Hi you guys I have just bought a few birds from wally chang here in the sacramento area, I hope he doesn't mind me telling who he is.... well anyways I've heard that mason lines come into the roll late, I just want to know how late, I mean I know it depends on the bird, but what is the adverare age that these birds starting showing some good 20-30 foot rolls?

I'm not sure, I just got some stock birds about 6 weeks ago, but the owner said 6 to 9 months. Of course he didn't tell me this until the money order was in the mail. I've just had 6 babies hatch this week. Hope its worth the wait! I would like to know more about the breed myself!

Same as most other families of rollers.I found them to be from 3 month to 8 month on average. Most were around 6 month. And I had some breeders that were Direct and First generation Imports. I really liked the fast spin in the ones that rolled.I had a lot of trouble getting them to fly as high as I wanted them to.I have since learned that this is common with Mason rollers. Some places it might be good but here in the woods it don't work well.David

Hey guys, this is the first year for the masons at my loft. I aquired mine from Jimmy Sherwood and Ellis McDonald. The low flying will probably suit me to a T. Reason why is I live on a side of a hill and as soon as they fly 80 feet from the kitbox its 110 feet straight down. So if they only stay 100 feet off the kitbox at times they will be over 200 feet up. I am able to see the kit a lot better here since I have 4 valley's that run into the mouth of my property. And I'm just a little under half way up the hill and its all clear in fromt of me. So this is perfect for me. Only bad thing is if they get to high they might get blown over the other hill and get lost. I posted some of my birds on my website you can take a look at them. http://rollerpigeon1963.tripod.com Thanks and best of luck Brian Middaugh
