I gave away a B.H. Roller to a friend 11 miles away who used it for breeding. He sold it 8 months later to a guy 31 miles from my house. The last owner flew it after about a month and it returned to me. Is it natural for a Roller to have that good a homing instint? Dominic.

hey Dominic no rollers do not have a very strong homing instinct. But every once and awhile they will show up back home. C.J.

Dominic, I bet you it is a Jaconette. They are known of being excellent homeability.

Probably the luck of the draw. I have had NORWOOD line birds return home from a distance . R-LUNA

I agree with Greed. There are a number of Birmingham rollers families that have great homing ability but in general Birmingham rollers do not.

Thanks guys. I got the bird years ago at Black Lake Lofts in St. Marries Idaho. Not knowing that it didn't have a homing instinct, I trained it with my pure white homers all the way out to about 35 miles. It's a female, very small compared to my homers. I named her "Boomerang". I'll keep her and attempt to mate her with a pure white homer to see what comes out. Thanks again for your feed back. Dom.
