I know this might sound corny, so please excuse me, but have anybody tried the use of ‘Red Bull’ or any energy drinks that are available in the market as a boost for the rollers by mixing some of the energy drink in their water. I am thinking about giving it a try before flying my birds and see the effect.

Jay,Ihave not used "Red Bull",but I have used Honey with some good result, very active,as long as there fed right in conjunction.I could see if they were too underfed were it could just as easily go the other way on you.You might find yourself picking them up off the ground and the roof. The honey creates a good nose/throat enzyme as well which could be a helpful contributor.Liken it to taking a deep breath before diving under water,if your nose and throat are at there optimun the better the breath. The sugar rush helps as well, but figuring the timing for that is another thing to consider.I guess its worth experimenting with, you dont know till youu try....Aloha,Todd

JSTAR, I think you will not be happy with the results. I knew a guys that putt coffee in the water before a fly. They flew fast like homers and he didnt get one bird turning over. I think an energy drink will do the same since they are full af caffene. But you can try it and let us know what happens. Kevin

I'll admit that I've tried a several different additive tricks to see if I could squeeze out a few extra points or breathe some life into a flat kit. The liquid additives are a gamble as you don't know who drank or when they drank. And this is important as first you want the kit to be on an even keel, everyone on the same page. And second, anything like caffiene or tea or even sugar additives must be consumed within a hour or a few hours before flying to truly experience whether it would work or not. If a kit is coming into roll fitness and putting in good work, I don't recommend giving them anything that will take them off their game. From my experience it tends to make them lose their kit sensitivity--they end up rolling too much and not together, and if you have any edgy birds in the kit, can easily turn them into unfortunate accidents. Personally I feel vitamins after being deprived of them for a certain amount of time seems to get them in the ballpark more so than a quick shot of an energy drink. One thing to remember is that some or even many of the ingredients in energy drinks might not be metabolized like they do in humans, or for that matter, even had the same chemical effect. One thing I did try once that did work was after my A team bombed in a qualifier, I looked to my B team which prior to that had been pretty flat. I threw caution to the wind and gave each bird one drop of liquid vitamin B12 one hour before fly time. They did pretty darn good and came within one five bird break of qualifying. They broke a half turn 10 seconds after time was called. Brian.

Maybe if I shoot em up before a fly they can outrun the hawks. If they dont outrun em, maybe they can outfight em, would be a great thing to see a roller carry a hawk in his talons.

The idea for the energy drink mixed in the water is to provide them with speed power for the spin instead of using peas as a substance for them. I feed my birds primarily wheat/milo most of the time and 10 day period they get mixed pigeon feed. I want to experiment with the energy stuff to see if that will give them that edge when they spin. I don’t want them to run a marathon nor to outwit a hawk because they do that on their own.
I use those energy drinks myself on the days that I feel run down and lost of motivation. They really work for me and boy do I keep on going. So I was just wondering if a small amount mixed with their water for a particular day would do the trick. It is like mixing tea and honey with their drinking water I presume but that energy stuff is potent.
If the stuff will make the birds’ lawn darts then it is not desirable at all, but if it gives them the edge when spinning then I will be all for it. It would be a cheap way of helping them achieve their potential on those days when you need the most out of them.
I will hold off the water for them for 12 hours then give them the mixed water an hour before flight and evaluate their performance. I will report to you on my findings. You will never know until you try it under the right conditions. If the stuff makes them racers or edgy or nervous then it will never be used again.

If you think that the american energy drink is strong you should try the asian energy drink. Non of that carbonated stuff just pure power in a smaller bottle.
Just visit your local asian store and give it a try. muah haha

Any type of excess stimulation will not make the spin faster, in fact just the opposite. You can get more activity but they fight the roll, in other words get sloppy.
