Holy Smokes!!!Pretty outragous prices for a little bird. The guy sounds like a feather merchant scammer to me.If you are paying for Rollers,I think around $50-$60 is the going rate down in the US for birds from a reputable dealer or breeder(such as Tony Chavarria).Watch out for hot birds,,,like stolen kinda hot.Good luck!----------

Around here in So Cal, for that family, especially if they are from a few certain breeders, will range around 100 per kit bird. $2,000 kits are fairly common with some of these guys, and they can't seem to breed enough of them.

Hey Todd,Spending a rainy Thanksgiving Sunday(Canuck style)in the house,so saw your message right away.Listen man,I never thought I could have so much fun playing around with birds since I just got back into it last February.I raised 16 Neibles and 8 Barrett birds this last season, and have 21 of that group left flying.Been trying to fly them every day,but have had a few periods of lockdown because of this damn Coopers hawk that's been around.Had quite the show the other day watching the bugger attacking half a dozen times on the same kit.Amazed how these birds evade the preds. One diving 300ft into the trees with the hawk in hot pursuit and came home unscathed.Even when being chased my birds have never skyed out except and 05 kit which are in the breeder loft now to foster next year. That time was my fault not watching the weather and a super high pressure had come in and birds got caught in it.All came back in within45 minutes. My buddies in other parts of the province had the same problem that day.
The Neibles birds come into the roll later than my Barretts, starting to flip and tail ride at 10 weeks and some are spinning now at 5 months. The young I've been getting from my Barrett pair have all been develping into fast tight spinners with some incredible depth and control tho the first bird from the first round bumped and knocked himself permanently silly. They all start to roll no more than 10 weeks. The 23 kit Neibles young I got from Al Hunt in Lumby B.C. are kitting like glue and haven't lost one to preds in the six weeks I've had them.Really strong flyers and starting to perform a bit.It will be really interesting to fly in the WC next spring to have the chance to have some one who knows evaluate my birds and efforts at training them.Totally enjoying this hobby, let me tell ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kel.

I THINK BIRDS SHOULD BE EXPENSIVE AFTER ALL THE WORK WE ALL PUT IN OUR BIRD... I SEEN A POST THAT BIRDS SHOULD BE LIKE AROUND 15 TO 25 BUCKS OR SOMTHING!! i totally disaagree i think the ones that belive that they should be tha little must feel well im not the one laying on the egg or laying on the eggs for almost a month.. but its more then just that its alot of attention we and time we spend with our little friends!! if and wen i get an a team and if i ever get to get some good birds. i will sale them for as much as i cud and cud get... if you want my birds and if they are as good or as cute ;) as something you want and if you want them your going to have to pay watt i ask for!! if you really want them wether good or not.. i really think tony should sale them for more his ruby rollers!!if im wrong lett me know!

33, My best advice would be to purchase two pair of Tony's Rubys. They are great birds, with plenty of spin, and great kitting abilitys. From two pair you will be able to breed all the young you need to start in your first year. Then refine and start building your stud in the second and subsequent years. As valuable as the birds are,you will also get continued support from Tony and his lovely Lady.
All for a fraction of the expense you mentioned. Yes, I fly and am very happy with my Ruby's.

The range is huge.....It is not uncommon to pay from 200-600 for a proven pair of breeders from a breeder that has the goods. I myself have paid 300 for a pair of breeders. A kit bird that if flown out and is good enough for the stock loft 50-150.00 is not uncommon.....unproven squeeks 25-60 bucks can be done. Especially if it is a tight family it can be in the upper level.

It is mosltly on what a person will pay and how good the birds are.....if you know for sure that they are good.

I think it depends on the breeder.
