Several days ago I was having a problem with fire ants in the breeder loft and I remembered a bait recipe I got from my father years ago. I mixed some up and sure enough three days later they are gone. Mix 1/3 boric acid powder, 1/3 corn meal and 1/3 confectionaires sugar(powdered). You can get the boric acid at most pharmacies or Walmart. Place a small amount in a dark dry area where your birds or other pets can't get to it. The ants or roaches take the bait back to the nest and end up killing it. Don't know if it will work on other pest insects. I never saw a roach in the house as a kid and till this day my Dad keeps a couple jar lids with this mix throughout the house.
