lets say i have never shippid but..
when i was in germany over a period of 10 days i collected roller eggs, i kept them at room temperature and then put them in my luggage. The chances for 10 eggs are about 50% i had five make it after being ten days old and being shaken around in my luggage. hope some of this helps/.

Thanks for the info. My concern is that my fosters won't all lay early enough to switch and I have to hold back some eggs until all fosters lay.

Couple of other questions:

1)What if I put 3 eggs under each pair of fosters?
2)Would fosters sit on eggs if they haven't lay yet?

I raise chickens and pigeons. Chickens lay about 12 to 13 eggs prior to setting on them. They will last 13 days at most and have to be rolled over everyday. I have expermented with my incubator. Every day of not being incubated the fertility rate drops off. Thus The fresher the egg the better chance of hatching.
Now with Pigeons I can only guess that the first egg layed only sits 2 days prior to the incubation process begins. This in my oppinion means that they are way more delicate and the eggs will not last long without incubation.
Shipping even chicken eggs is a crap shoot. They have to be packaged properly and then the post office bounces them all around during shippment. I bought eggs 4 times this spring and not one hatched out! Some started to develope in the shell but died from being weak. Some eggs break on the inside and you cant tell by looking at it. They have to be looked at with a special light to see the inside contents.
Some of the eggs I got in the mail were broken inside.
Skip the trouble and dont waste your time on others eggs.
Its less expensive to just buy the birds then wasting money and time just to have nothing.
Hope this helps.

Ronnie
