Will someone please explain to me what it means when a bird goes stiff? Is it due to age, feed, flying time, or not enough flying time? One more thing, what is the prefer feed if my birds are heavy or fat?

Stiff birds implys the birds are not rolling much; just flying basically. Any or all the things you mentioned will contribute to thier becoming stiff. A good feed to "un-stiffen" them is a mixture of wheat and milo about a 50/50 mixture. Make sure you are not feeding them more than 1/2 cup per 5 birds (one half cup). Also fly them often; everyday if you can or every other day. If you can fly but on the weekends fly them twice each of the two days. Just fly them often, they are athilets and you got to keep them flying(often).
My current opinion only. I reserve the right to change my mind.

Maybe, maybe not, it's base on the trainer. and maybe the feed may be another cause a bird to become stiff. sometime it depend on the family you have. i have some Murr roller that was doing very well, if i breed 10 murr rollers, i often get 2 or 3 that is very stiff. they roll once in every 20 mins. but very very deep, not a roller down.

Thank-you Nick. I'll try to work with my birds to the best of my knowledge and everyone else's thoughts.

Flying older birds everyday will make stiffs out of them. Flying any age birds for long period of time will make them stiffen after the first half hour or so. Feeding the birds rich feed and/or more than required will make racers and stiffs out of them. Molt will stiffen the birds also. Flying defensively from sky preditors will stiffen the birds. Flying on the right or left wing will stiffen the birds. The bird, who took the lead in the kit, that is a very poor roller will make the kit become stiff. There are many variables that could cause the kit to become stiff, so do you homework and detrmine which is the cause.
