Today I opened the barn door and took a glance at the birds and without really thinking about it I knew something was wrong.I walked over to the loft door and looked inside ,I didn't see anything wrong--I started to walk away--and thought--no-this is not right-these birds are acting funny.I went in and started takeing alittle inventory and still couldnt find anything but knew something was amiss. As I turned to go out their was one of the birds hanging upside down ,where I couldnt see her from the door. She had somehow gotten her band caught in alittle crack in the door and had been thrashing around and was a bloody mess -but alive-.She had pulled the band down to the center of her foot and both wing tips were beat up.I pulled the band back with some effort--gave her a shot of water(Thinking she was probably dehydrated) and droped a couple peas down .The only thing good about it is that I realised that I am getting to know my birds enough that I could spot something wrong at a glance. That is what it is about Mike...just knowing they are acting funny...Just the other day I opened the door to my A-team and they all just sat there...and usually they just take to the air...so I shut the door and as i was going to get my flag...I thought...something is not right..like you I looked the birds over and everything seemed fine....then I scanned the sky and saw that all the commies in my neighborhood had taken flight...then here came a big cooper hen with a commie in the talons....the birds were telling me...I AM NOT GOING OUT THERE!!! SO now I know..if the birds don't fly it is for a reason! I mean..shit....would you go out if there was an ax murdered outside....HECK NO!!! You are getting it!!!

Thanks Paul-the hen seems to be ok. She was still on the floor when I got home. I checked her out and the foot was still swolen but it has blood getting to It.I picked her up off the floor and she flew to a perch. If she gets threw tomorrow I believe she will be ok. Mike
