I have two older birds that bump first thing coming out every time; immediatly gets airborn and is stable the rest of the fly.
They are solid performers after the initial bump.
Would you pull them? I am asking as a competitor being judged WC level.

Hey Nick, i know that some have hand tossed birds like that to help keep them from bumping. That is something you could try. I would replace them as soon as you have birds that are just as good with out the problem. I would also never breed from them. Just my opinion, Kevin

Nick, I agree with Kevin. Let the others elevate a bit and hand toss them.

Nick, Just let em out a few at a time. I have a bird or two that`ll bump if they haven`t flown in a couple of days. I find letting them out this way helps the problem. ---------- If they don`t kit, they don`t score. Color don`t roll and peds don`t fly. It`s a comp thing, understand?

Nick, As you well no good A team birds are hard to come by. Like Kevin stated toss them until you can replace them with better but if they are good birds you need to do whatever you have to for now to keep them in the air. It is not a desireable trait but much better than a bunch of out birds or non rollers. At least they arent trouble birds in the air. Work with them and you could be surprised later in life they may pull out of this. I doubt it but you never now. I know in my birds they never come out of it. I have heard statements over the years that guys should not be allowed to hand toss birds but I say to that we arent judging the birds until he calls time in and I really dont care how he gets them in the air prior to that point. The birds that come out bumping are excited when they are coming down to land and bumping is a problem with control. When flying in a major fly you know your birds better that would be your call. Hand tossing them would help. John M.
