Condition- Do not have time to train birds due to schooling then coming home at 5 o' clock when the sun is barely up anymore, have 5 2-3 month olds ready to train and about 8 coming up squabs/fertile eggs + more due to yearround breeding of some pairs. Question is should I lock these guys up till next year or train them now? I am usually available saturdays and sundays so I need opinions if I should wait till next year or begin a weekly training schedule.

Be your own boss!
No that doesn`t work either. Fly em when you get a chance any time is better than none.

parlorfancier916, Depending on the hawk situation in your area, I would go ahead and try to fly them when you can. I work a 3 day on 3 day off work cycle and only get to fly on days off except during the summer.

Hey Parlor, since you can fly both Saturday and Sunday, you can get like four days of airtime in those 2 days if you fly in the early morning and then again late afternoon.

At this point you just want to get them used to flying, using their wings, learning to kit, responding to the feed can, etc...Go For It!

sorry belle but you'd have to wait till next next year to get free eggs because many people have been asking me for Parlor eggs I doubt I may even be able to breed myself a kit due to constant asking. Well anyways... Tony How do you put 2 days in 1, don't that mean you starve to bird the whole day as well?

Parlour,
After you fly them in the morning just give them less than 1/2 their daily ration so they are still hungry when you let them out in the afternoon. Then when they come in 2nd time, feed them the rest of their daily ration. But during the weekdays, get them on a morning feeding schedule.

When I intend to fly twice a day I give em a 1/2 cup of milo after the first fly. Full ration after the second. Works for me
