I once bought into the wheat and wheat/milo feeding of kit birds. I have changed my mind.

I used a feed mix of peas, safflour, wheat, millet, and milo equal parts by weight. I got the same results that I get with wheat/milo by just cutting back on the amount fed with the mixture.

The benefit I believe I am getting with the mix over the wheat/milo is that it is more nuetritionally balanced and hence more healthy for the birds.

I am sure the results will vary from family to family, but this is what I found with my family.

Ya Nick, I tried the wheat and wheat/milo combinations in the past and didn't have really good results from it. I found that as long as I cut out the popcorn my birds did best on mix. I order a mix here locally that is made by winners cup and is a 12% no popcorn and I feed it 365 days a year. I just adjust the amount according to how the birds act and feel.I found that the best stimulation I can give my birds is rest. A couple days rest prior to fly day and they seem to do what I expect out of them. By sticking to this single source of feed it has made things much easier to get my birds ready for a fly and also by breeding from birds honed to this style of feeding it has made the young easier to prep. At least I think it has and I guess thats all that metters. Joe Urbon
