I have a couple of birds that spin very well and the depth is great. They kit very well also, BUT they fly for about 10 minutes work thier asses off breaking as the kit breaks then they are through. They are down and ready to trap.
Can this habit be broken? I have had no success in the past and have put them on the cull rositer in the past as well.
Thier velocity and style is awsome and the depth is 40 - 60 feet, but they fly short. Would like to know if this habit can be broken.
Thanks,Nick

Nick, have you tried feeding them a little bit more than the others? Are they getting there fair share at feeding time? Sounds like they might need a bit more feed if they are working as hard as you say.

Its kinda hard to put a thumb on something like this without seeing them in person, how they act, how they feel in the had, what their expressions are. It could just be they are working too much and aren't getting enough to eat which compounds the problem. It could be they have a respiratory problem. It could be they are just weak in mind per the amount of roll stimulus they possess. With just the general information to go on, I'd park them and feed them up while getting them on aureomycin for a while followed by some vitamins. This is like a mini building up process of sorts and will test their merits when reflown and put into good fly condition. If they can't hang after that, well I'd have to say they are just weak minded. Brian.

Nick, If you can get them built up to fly the time they should be a nice addition to your kit. As they get older they will probably stiffen up a little and be just right. jmho ---------- If they don`t kit, they don`t score. Color don`t roll and peds don`t fly. It`s a comp thing, understand?

And when you do return them back to the kit make sure you add 1 at a time or even split them in to different kits if you can . Fly on my brothers and sisters and may you all be blessed by the lord.

How i have handled that problem. And has worked about half the times i have tryed it, After they have been flying a month or so, ill feed them up a little and take them for a ride. not far maybe a half a mile, i have taken them as far as 5 miles. thats by its self not with the kit. and yes i have lost a few birds doing it this way. but if that bird only has 10 min in it thats all your going to get out of him. because if you toss him out again he just going to sit in some tree or a house down the street. and before you know it all your birds are down there too

I don't mess with them Nick, usualy they are early landing in order to "NOT" roll, the next step is no wanting to fly, if it is a bird that is just coming into the roll I will be leniant on them for a bit. I have one like that now in the cull pen , two of it's sibblings are in the A team and are good hard workers.

Hey Nic, In my family, I will get a few young birds under 10 months old that will come on like you describe.. Darn hot and just seam to tucker out from all the hard rolling.. If their only fault is coming down in ten minutes but they kit while they are up.. Mine nearly always mature into good kit birds after their second molt.. Could just be a family thing, but I find this type never lose their work rate with age.. KGB
