If you aren't going to fly them until spring, just feed them regular pigeon mix like you would your other loft birds.

Hey Paul, Do you think cutting back on the amount you feed the kitbirds if they're locked up for the winter is a good idea to keep them from getting too fat?Where I am it doesn't go below freezing but for a few weeks through the winter.Skysharks love it here in the winter. ---------- Kelly

Kelly, It is easy to take the weight off them in the spring. Put them on wheat or wheat milo mix for a couple of weeks prior to first release. I always put them out in the training cage a couple of times to reinforce trap training before I let them out again after winter lockdown. I feed a mix all winter and don't worry about them too much. Thanks Keith, This is a topic which is debated alot amongst the fliers up here. When I did cut their feed a little, they seemed quite hungry. When it does get cold here the birds seem to need more as they almost tear the wire floor off the kitbox when I walk by. ---------- Kelly
