Hey Fellas, for those working on a strain to call thier own, when was the last time you added an outcross? What were you looking to add to your family? Did it work? If not, did you keep looking for the right bird until you found what you were looking for or did you settle for what you ended up with?
If it did work, are you seeing the trait showing up in some or all its descendants? ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Tony, I will tell you in 6 months. I am gonna pair up 1/1 and run a poly system one cock to three hens.
I found this outline of a pretty easy poly system I think I can run with out too much hair pulling.

In 2005 I added a cockbird from Werstler's GhostTown Roller family. That was the first and last. He worked out well, but no better than if I would have left it alone and used my own bird. Got a hair in my butt when at a BBQ at Joe Urbon's house. I still go thru that now and again, but I end up talking myself out of it. I think by using good selective breeding you can get what you want to change from your own family.............you know finding a bird with the "look".................LOL ---------- Snicker Rollers

Tony I have the ability kinda like Scott and KGB do with having sombody with basically the same birds that I am able to go to if I feel the need. Dave Hendersons birds and mine are dam neer the same 4 generations back so that is were I go. I did add a cock bird about 6 years ago from Kevin Naylors Ray Sanchez birds but he really didnt work out so I no longer have him. I dont believe Kevin has the Sanchez birds anymore either but there were some nice spin in them just didnt like the results I got with the one cock. Joe
