I know how to go about fostering but am not so sure about a few other questions involving fostering. I want to make sure I protect the hen providing the eggs. How many eggs can be safely fostered from one hen? Do you give them extra calcium? If so, in what form? I want to make sure I don't wear them out but I do have a few hens I want to foster some birds from this coming breeding season. Thanks for your thoughts!

Darin , yes I always give my breeders Calcium glucante (sp) most feed stores carry it.
You can safely take 4 maybe 5 rounds , I like to pull a few rounds and let then let them raise one, I have had a few hens get a little goofy laying wise the following season by fostering to hard .

Scott - thanks for the information. I'm hoping this next breeding season will be an improvement over last. I know alot more now about my birds and have aquired some new pairs also so I should be good to go but I want to capitalize on the pairs that I believe are the best and use the rest as fosters.
