When using a bull system, how do you keep the fosters in time with the primary parents? If I pair the first fosters at the same time I pair the polys they should be close. I guess chunk the second fosters eggs after I pull the eggs from the primary and hope for the best on the third.

Kenny, This is my first time at it too,I'm thinking put 'em all together in their breeding boxes at the same time and when you get the first round everbody has laid, chuck those eggs and they should all lay again in 10 to 12 days at which time the foundation pairs eggs go under the 1st pair of fosters. At the same time you chuck the 2nd fosters eggs.10 to 12 days later there should be more eggs from the foundation pair and the 2nd foster pair.Foundation pairs eggs go under the 2nd fosters.Next set of eggs laid by the foundation pair are then sat and hatched by the true parents,or keep going with the 1st pair doing the setting and raising, but I imagine letting the main pair raise a set of young is what keeps them interested. Oye!!You experienced guys!!Is this correct? YITS, Kel.

Velo, I have bred one cock to three hens several times and it works pretty well. You will need to put down two pairs of fosters for each. I would breed four rounds from each hen and then give them a rest. Select three new hens and start over again.

Birdman, I have two pairs for each hen. I am hoping to get 18 with the same father on the first round, then revert back to the primary matings for the second batch. Each bird will be related in some way I think. Gonna be intersting for sure. I think this is Rick Mees forte`. I have read his Concert Performance article several time and am intrigued enough to go to the trouble of trying this system ---------- If they don`t kit, they don`t score. Velo, when you get the chance, try and breed multiple rounds from each hen. You might find a hen or two that produce the best with that particular cock and you will for sure find out which hens do not.

What I hope to do is to foster the first two rounds and let the hens sit the third. The second stage involves letting the "secondary" cock sire this round. I might just do the whole bull system thing a second time using wooden eggs to get them back in sync. I would then have 36 birds with the same sire, and 12 each from the hens. That should give me an fairly accurate representaiton of what this sire has. Then I have another cock on loan I need to burn the other 14 bands on. A really nice Bob Peterson bird. That will pretty much be my season. ---------- If they don`t kit, they don`t score. Color don`t roll and peds don`t fly. It`s a comp thing, understand?

Sam, I have 5 indie pens I built. I can slide a piece of 1/2x1 in between the bars to keep them seperated during the introduction process. I can also lock the cocks in the aviary when I need to have the stud cock in alone.
