Kenny,
Don't know what is going on there. I am registard there and I glean information from it, but I am not a member of the NPRA. I find it strange that they would block un-registerd from reading the posts...........hmmm.

Not really a newsflash, it's been that way for a little while now. Good to know you still check in now and then Kenny. It sure has helped quiet things down though hasn't it? There really is no need for forums to try to compete or worse....
I guess when folks take the extra step to sign in they aren't just cruising looking for a juicy tidbit to exploit somewhere.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a great new year.

hardtime, some threads there have a large pic in them and you need to scroll over to get the whole story....it doesn't all fit on the screen at once. Maybe that's what you are experiencing.

Dan,
I prefer an open site that allows expoitation of all information on it. I like roller-pigeon.com because of this and the NBRC site. All information posted on it you can exploit freely. It is sad to know that some sites forbid the posted information to be shared or exploited.

hi Nick, I guess it depends on the meaning you apply to "exploit". If you mean to use the info in a constructive way, I agree with you. However I was using "exploit" to mean using something in a negative, unconstructive way. While I understand that may be accepted behavior here and many here may enjoy that type of interaction, that is not the policy "over there" and every user there knows it, including yourself. BTW Nick, my compliments to you on the way you conduct yourself over yonder. Dan

I am glad that my behavior "over there" is to your liking. I just don't look on my behavior here as heathenistic (I don't know if that is even a word).

Hey Nick, I am really glad you, along with so many others, enjoy this site and make it what it is.
We enjoy a much freer flow of information and opinion here. I don't always agree with the opinions or the way they are expressed here, like one or two on this thread, but I do try to put my biases aside as much as I can and leave the posts up.
I used to think WWW stood for wild wild west. LOL But now so many want crumpets and tea under an umbrella and have a kindly visit and agree on everything...I don't have problem with that...
I wonder why some people are so adamant about not being quoted. What's interesting to me is I bet some of these same people have no problem quoting others when the words are to thier advantage.
I also wonder, how many come here to check what's being said and run back to their friends and report on what they find.
Well pardner, this site is for gunslingers not for mudslingers. lol ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

No, Nick...I sure hope it's not the approval of others that motivates you, my friend...least of all mine. I'm just another roller guy, like you (well, in some ways! LOL!) It isn't an issue of approval...but one of credibility. And when we represent ourselves inconsistently on the different sites, it's hard to figure that, for sure...that's all...just like me being called to task here, for taking color into consideration at all when pairing birds for performance on another site. The inconsistancy raises questions in the minds of some....I guess we're all doing the best we can, eh? I still love you, too, nick...even when we disaggree....Hmmmmmm, I missed the "I am being nice" part when you said.....Awwwwww skip it. It doesn't really matter, anway, does it? YITS, Cliff

I participate in multiple forums and even host three active forums and I can honestly say that Slobberknocker's NPRA forum is one of the best managed that I have ever seen.
I have posted in there more than anyone and was once accused of being Bob's pet. But I get my inflammatory posts deleted just like everyone else. I don't always like it at the time but after I think about it, he's been right when he deletes my posts.
Just recently there was some negative talk of some of the trolls from this forum that are always slamming the other forum and their birds and Bob quickly put a stop to it. I believe that's called turning the other cheek.. so I appreciate that forum very much.
Please don't expose yourself as a troll by getting into this immature competition between forums and colors of birds. It's only detrimental to the hobby.

Alan,
I don't believe Cliff is a troll. I think he is just confussed. I don't see any trolls on this thread; do ya think that the troll is me? I did not come into this site to stir up stuff; this site is my home. I have been a real good boy "over there".................Kenny is not a troll he just brought up a problem with another site. Alan, are you the troll? I don't think so. Dan is alright; I don't know why he decided to stir up stuff in here. It is out of character for him. It's Cliff ain't it?
I wonder what would happen if I came on the "other site" to defend this site?

Hey Alan, I have access to a dictionary too, check this word out.
"APOLOGIST": A person who argues in defense or justification of something, such as a doctrine, policy, or institution.
Source is American Heritage Dictionary
LOL Please come by here from time to time and actually post something of value to the visitors OF THIS site and not just act as an apologist for Bob.
Here's another one.
"FANATICAL": motivated or characterized by an extreme, uncritical enthusiasm or zeal, as in religion or politics...
Source is Dictionary.com
LOL This reminds me of those that seem to make it a habit of chasing others down from one site to another just because they have differing views and attempt to mock or browbeat them into compliance.
Hmmmm, aren't we at war with those that would hack off our heads for not surrendering our freedom to express our own opinion?
I am still trying to figure out why I should cross a Modena into my Ruby Rollers and then breed them for 8 generations to clean up the Modena genes so my birds will roll again!?

Nick, go back to the beginning of the thread and read all the way through. The stirring sticks are in your hand and a few other regulars here. You've told us before how you like to get under people's skin. If that's how you prefer to operate, go ahead, but don't try to pin the blame for controversey on someone else then.
I'm glad to read how some who are regulars here say they have gleaned some good info over there. I, as well as others have found some good here also. That's what these forums should be all about, helping the hobby. Not a competition to prove who is better.
No need to wonder why there was 20% jump in forum membership over there since this thread was started.
I'm looking forward to reading stuff good for the hobby in BOTH places, now let's let it lay already!

I have many roller friends that insist on poking around other websites to find objectionable information about rollers. They seem to have some strange fascination with it, and although they strongly object to the content of these sites, are oddly drawn to them. I say, why would you go to a site that you are so bent on not being a part of? If there's shit in the yard, you're bound to get some on your feet.

"I bought a Dom Opal cock at the Backspin Classic this year. He is a very pale silver/yellow-colored bird. I can't really describe him very well. He's mated to a yellow check self hen. Thank you for your interest in my breeding practices, guys. I take that as a compliment! LOL! Let me tell you about that particular pair of birds. I bought them at auction at the Backspin Classic in South Carolina. They were a proven pair of producers owned by Larry Williams, who competed in local, state, and NBRC Fall Flys for many years. They produced many quality spinners for him, and at the time (Spring '05) I was breeding strictly performance birds that had been selected out of the air. So all my breeders had yet to prove that they could produce anything at all in the way of performance. When I saw the quality of the performance of the birds in the air at the Backspin, that this particular pair had produced, I bought them, so that I would have at leastr one pair that I could depend on. The cock was expressing an unusual color modifier, called Dominant Opal, which I had absoulutely no experience with, as you can see in my post. Since the NPRA had just recently organized as a roller club committed to an open discussion of genetics, I submitted the post (the one that Scott pinched from their site) out of curiosity as to what to expect. It is no different to me than asking whether a blue bar and red check paired for performance might reproduce themselves in the offspring. Hell, I didn't care if they produced purple birds as long as they performed like the ones I saw in the air at Larry's place! It is very interesting to note....the pair has produced mostly recessive reds, and a few yellows...but some have what looks like a white undergrizzling in the feathering, which I suppose is caused by the opal modifier. Nope, the cock did not reproduce his color modifier. The pair produced two birds for my A-kit in the first year of 10 squeakers I bred from them. I thought that was pretty awesome at the time...until I discovered pairs Of indigo and andalusians producing even better percentages. By the way Scott, if you cruise the internet sites until the wee hours of the morning, you can probably find a post of mine somewhere, asking what I should expect color-wise out of one of Joe Bob's best stock hens, an indigo on a black badge cock from his World Cup kit, or an Andalusian from Jay Yandle's NBRC 11-bird championship kit in 2003 that he paired with one of his fastest red check hens. And you know what, guys (Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! the pigeon police are watching!!!) given equal performance and type in a pairing, I will actually try to breed for a certain color!!! I know it's hard to believe, but I actually do that! The shame of it!! I guess that makes me a color-breeder guys...yep, I guess, you have outed me, Scott. And you really need to get a life, bro!!!
