I started to question myself why I am so partial to red checked birds. I then remembered that the very first bird I had as a kid that could really turn it on like the grown up's birds was a red checker. A red check cock. It was the only bird that the grown ups asked to buy from me. It was given to me by an old, old man named Frank. A man who allowed me in his backyard to view the magic that he had in the many lofts that filled his yard. He allowed me in his home to read all of the Pigeon Journals he had stacked up on the floor. He often fed me if I was there during meal time; I often fell asleep on his living room floor amoungst the Pigeon Journals under a cooling fan during the hot midwestern summer days. It was during the age that an eight year old boy could ride or walk through a city of 80,000 people without any fear.

It was magic.

Nick,I'm kinda partial to the red checks too!The mealy red bars are some of my favourites as well.I was given a whole shwag of yb's from Allan Hunt up in Lumby in the end of last august and managed to fly them till end of october before lockdown. One kit of 25 I have has 12 reds in it and they never were in a position where they were atacked by the coopers, cept a couple times and when they were they always came in unscathed when I lost others.I call them my horseshoe birds.

Nick,
I find that some of my best stock is coming from the red birds right now :)
