Go with best to best everytime and you will find success. Color balancing does not work with me; so I will never consider that option. I just go best to best and see if they click. If they don't click then you will need to come up with an alternative, but use the same grading system. Brian Mc Cormick developed a matrix that is easy to use; just place your own value coeffecients and rate your birds against it and then pair them up accordingly. If you have a pair that just don't click then put them with the next racking until you have a click
Just some ideas.
Keep in mind the best to best pairings don't always produce the best, but color balancing never works in my loft effectively.
