How old is the bird and did Sam breed from it. It looks small(which I like) and bright.

Well, looks good to me. Seems to have a nice expression about him, and has all fixins for a good roller. Try him in the breeder, only then will you know if he is worth anything...Best of luck.

luis has asked the best question I have heard in awhile. "What made you choose him as your foundation cock?" That what all of us should be asking ourselves before we stock anything. You only have to justify it to yourself and you should go through the processes choosen to make that decision before you stock or select a foundation bird.

Nick: The bird pictured above is an 03.

Luis: The fact that he comes from a well-known fancier/family here in Southern Cali. So i don't want to waist a bird and a great opportunity to start something here.

JMHD: So. Cal. ??!! Where? I stay in Lynwood.
Would you mind filling me in on the background of 5009-5009/327 ? And who is Leh Meyer?? .....sorry I'm still kind-of new to this hobby

AND THANK YOU ALL FOR THE WONDERFUL COMMENTS, THOUGHTS, OPINIONS, AND QUESTIONS. I REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

The Bird looks great. I had a cock look just like him from Mee family. What is the background of the Sam birds? May be it has Mee blood because they way it looks (body type, eyes expression, color)

Snowmansrollers I used to live in Los Angeles Ca, (Florence District) Off of Florence and Holmes ave before moving to Lancaster Ca, (High Desert). Lester Leh Meyer was a fancier that was around when Bill Pensom was and was close with Pensom got his stock from Pensom 327,771,857, the 318 is a Smith Line are all lines he produced excellent birds when Leh Meyer was no longer into the rollers Richard Para got the birds from Leh Meyer and Para made 5009 off of leh Meyer's stock. Sam Gutierrez got those birds direct from Richard Para when he was in high school and now a days it's just as if Sam is continueing to keep the family going Sam has all of Leh Meyers breeding records. A high quality stock is what it is there is no Mee blood that is a different family. Frank Lavin said he has been all over the U.S.and hasn't seen the birds kept pure like those Leh Meyer birds.
