For all who may be interested, The Convention will be held at the High Point Radisson Hotel, September 20-23. High Point is 20 minutes south of Greensboro. Air traffic will come into Greensboro. We will have the hawks and the moult to deal with but the weather and temps should be ideal. A spectacular event is in the makings, so I thought I would share a few of the ideas we are kicking around:
1. Loft visits and flying the kits of World Cup Champ Joe Bob Stuka, NBRC 20-bird National Champ Clay Hoyle, NBRC 11-bird National Champ Jay Yandle, 2006 I-85 Fly Off Champ Lathan Collins, as well as a couple other lofts who fly good kits. Friday night smoked trout cook-out at Clay Hoyle's place.
2. A Futurity Fly of '06 spinners from the best lofts in the Carolinas. These birds will be judged in a lawn show before the fly.

2.('07 Convention Continued)
Attendees can enter their selections for the Best Cock and the Best Hen. Winners can take the bird home or half the pot. The best performer in the Futurity Kit will be judged by a panel of judges. Members can enter their choice, also. Winners get the bird or half the pot. The remainder of the Futurity Kit birds will be auctioned individually.
3. A bird that spins blood in his eyes will be placed in a show pen with an 11-bird kit. Members will enter their selections to identify the correct bird. Winner gets half the pot.
4. A rolldown will be placed in show pen in an 11-bird kit. Members will enter their selections to identify the correct bird. Winner gets half the pot.
5. A number of prominent families of rollers will be displayed in show pens. Members will enter attempting to identify all the families correctly. The correct entry will get half the pot.
6. At the banquet on Saturday night, round table discussions will be led at each table by experienced roller men accross the country on a wide variety of topics during dinner.
7.Presentation of NBRC Hall of Fame and Master Flyer awards.
It should be a lot of fun, hopefully educational, and rewarding, as well as a chance to meet and talk with roller men from accross the country; something for everybody. We are expecting a strong turn-out so be sure to get your reservations in early when registration begins.
In the Sport, Cliff

Jay, I think we can expect, Danny to be there! He'll have a lot of regular customers there, I'm sure, and he will be donating birds. On the round table discussions, there will be one man at each dinner table leading a discussion on a topic of his choice. We are hoping to be able to get James Turner, Ellis MacDonald, Joe Quinn, and/or Tony Roberts to lead the discussion at their table. If they do, the topic will be their choice. If it is color genetics, then so be it! Attendees will sign up for the topic at the table with the discussion leader of their choice until the table is full. Otherwise, seating will be random for those who do not pre-reister...they will just fill in the gaps and take part in the discussion at hand. It will be interesting to see which topics and tables get filled the fastest....Why don't you lead one on the topic of Inbreeding, Linebreeding and Outcrossing? It should be pretty easy. Once the leader gets the discussion started, the men at the table will usually carry on. Let me know! YITS, Cliff

Thanks Cliff. I could lead a discussion if I decide to attend. I would like to attend but it still far away from today for me to make a commitment. Maybe I will bring the wife with me. She likes to visit other states but I don't know if pigeons is her cup of tea (lol)...I would like to meet as many people from this forum as possible, therefore, I am asking who is planning on attending this convention this year? I know it could be difficult for the folks on the West cost, but for those die hard it would be an opportunity to meet some of the great men in this hobby and experience their generosity. May be next time I also could make it to California for a week to enjoy the next convention and meet the great roller men in the other side of the country.

Absolutely, Jim. After arriving in Greensobro, you won't have a care in the world for three days...nothing but rollers and more rollers....until you have to get back to the airport on Sunday, that is! LOL! Glad to hear you can make it! I look forward to shaking your hand, buddy. I feel like we are old friends already! Don't take an early flight back on Sunday. I live 10 minutes from the airport. We'll go back to my place and fly some kits in the morning....you can help me muck out Rico's stall! LOL! YITS, Cliff

Cliff, If you mean by me helping you muck his stall means I take him out for a nice ride while you do the actual mucking then, sure, count me in for that. haha I like the sound of the other part though for sure. I will be buying airline tickets and room rent in advance so I will be sure to get the best deal possible on both. See you there amigo. Jimbo ---------- "We Don't Rent Pigs"

Ron, Monroe is next to Charlotte, almost a suberb, and about an hour from the convention. It is very close to some of the guys we will be flying in and around Charlotte. You'll be very close (15-20 min) from Joe Bob. Hope you can play a little hooky and join in! YITS, Cliff

Scott if you fly out you might want to keep your airsick bag and some extra dramamine. You will be seeing some modifiers that may just make your head spin!...lol
Just kidding my friend. The NC flyers are some very fun guys to be around and you can count on a very good time here. Hope to get to meet you.

Good idea, Scott. I think we can fit that in....no problem! LOL! Seriously, though, I hope you can make it. You'll have a good time. You know that. Believe it or not, for the guys who don't spend any time on the computer lists, your name keeps coming up as a potential judge at some point.....at least until they hear the additional cost of the entry fees to make that happen! LOL! Later, Cliff

What Cliff? Is Scott expensive? haha. I know he would be a dandy if we could afford him. I plan to be there and will be proud to shake the hands of both of you. And scores of others from here and not here. It will be my first convention and I sure am looking forward to it. Especially making a clean sweep of the hidden bird games. Maybe I can fly back in first class if I do real good. (Now that's funny right there!!) I will give it a go anyway and help boost the pot for someone. haha Later Y'all. Jimbo Ovalo, Texas

Jimbo, Well, I guess if I could talk Scott into hitch-hiking out here it wouldn't cost us much! LOL!
Jay, Awesome jesture by offering the donation! That speaks volumes, buddy! See if there are any of the contests above that you would like to sort of "sponsor" with your donation....the family ID, the rolldown ID, the bood-in-the-eye-ID, the Best Cock and Hen ID or the Best Performer ID. Or you could talk to Tony and maybe have a roller-pigeon.com raffle that you could donate the $100 to personally. I am also working with Tony on getting him to sponsor a Ruby Roller or Roller-pigeon.com hospitality suite for all this hand-shaking that will be taking place! LOL! So I guess this means that since you have made your reservation that I can put you down for a round table discussion, right, my friend? Let me know for sure on the topic, but "Inbreeding, Line-breeding and Outcrossing" would be a great one. Man, I'm getting more psyched with every passing day! YITS, Cliff

Jay, It's just an idea that I threw out in my post to you, after your donation. I haven't even approached Tony with it yet. I've already put quite a few things on his plate for him to decide on!! We are thinking about the possibility of RPDC sponsoring a hospitality suite for guys to get together, meet, shake hands and talk rollers! YITS, Cliff

Update-I have about eight guys committed for round table discussions, so far, on some great topics. Man I wish I could be at all the tables to hear each one! Now that would be a nice video presentation worth owning. Also Dave Gehrke is planning on having a hospitality suite for those who are interested in his record-keeping software and want to see it in action; and for fanciers who are currently using the Perfect Roller System software, as a place to gather, meet, ask questions about using the program, etc. He will also have free issues of the Roller Journal available. Cliff, Send me your email. You can email me at jay.alnimer@dfas.mil. Thanks.
Tony, The Performance Pigeon Tracking System that I developed is almost complete after taking a break due to working long hours. When I am done with it I will send you an executable version to test. Allot of thoughts to develop the requirements went into this project to be comprehensive and user friendly.
