Do you mean Moriscar Rollers? They have been known to roll just like BR's. I had always suspected they were a key ingredient in the creation of the BR. Not to many know of the Moriscar. Cool pics.

Interesting.
I remember reading about these as a kid. The only performance birds that were ever of any interest to me were the Birmingham Roller, the Escampadissa, and the Moriscari. Birminghams were the easiest to find here in the states...so, the rest is history. LOL Good luck with the birds.

well,i've got some clover(trefoil) there so that the birds always have some to eat whenever they're out. well thanks ,i need a lot of luck too,it's hard work starting from scratch, cause the first birds i got werent ,too good,so i've got a lot of work with them,it's hard to find the perfect balance so that they won't roll down...

I noticed on your website that it appears that you use an open loft system and have different breeds of birds in the same loft. Do you have problems with different breeds mating, and if so, what are you thinking? Stan would be proud of those crest! Jerry ---------- Eat, sleep, Cowboys, Pigeons... The facts of life

well the situation is that the loft is dividede in 3 parts ,and the pictures were taken in september so the birds are separated (the cocks from the hen),thats why they are together,in the mating season, the fancy breeds are separated from the BRs and so they don't mix. i've never had that kind of problems. the fancy pigeons i have are the frillbacks and the crests,i never cut the crest ,so they don't mate in with the frillbacks, and because the floor is made of wooden bars they don't mate on it ,only in their own nests. So thx for the warning but its not that bad as in the pics. best of wishes, radu ,romania

Radu,
Interesting birds. Like Milo I too have thought about these rollers.
You have a very nice set up. I also think it is interesting that you are living in Romania. The interest in the performing pigeon is world wide.

well here in romania we have lots of romanian thumbler breeds, but the problem is no one cares for them and lots of the breeds were already lost or are almost extinct. this may be because most pigeon-breeders are poor, and can't maintain their birds so they breed those which are good for selling, easy to take care, and cost a lot of money. heres a link to some of our thumbler breeds: Rolleri de Timisoara: http://www.pelgar.go.ro/poze.html here are all of our thumblers and rollers click on the names in the left for images: http://hem.passagen.se/alexbude/
enjoy;)
