I have been lucky all year until this morning......a cooper nailed 1 of my birds not 5 feet from the back of my house as they were coming down. When i went out the back of the house he picked up the bird and carried it about 30 feet and just sat there staring at me.Then he took off and flew up into a tree.
It took the rest of my birds 11 in total 2 hours before they settled down and came back in. I am done flying for the remainder of the winter now...........Dave

Thats sucks.
Sorry to hear that. My predators will be leaving in the next few weeks, which means I'll be back to flying. I am usually on lockdown due to Coopers and Peregrines from September to February.
Best of luck.

I've had a peregrine at the rollers a few times in the last couple of weeks. He's tried for a couple of minutes then moved on, either not very hungry or just not very good.

Nah, Steve, I let them out, they circle as they rise. The sparrowhawk is lurking nearby and has one of them on the ground in seconds. If I hear the commotion, I scare the hawk away, but it often just grabs another. If the hawk misses with the birds on the way up, it's waiting for them on the way down.

So, how do you cope now, Wayne? What has changed for you?

I like your style, Jay. I just wish I could set my clock in the same way - my problem birds aren't so predictable. Mind you, it's right to point out that peace may reign for a time, but then another problem moves in and so it all starts again.
