A fellow flyer has a cock bird that no matter which hen he mates that cock to,his mate becomes barren and does not lay. However,if he mates the same hen to a different cock, the hen lays normally and sets the eggs.Has anyone had a similar experience?---------- Kelly

I'm wondering if the cock just doesn't drive, so the hen never gets around to laying. I've had cocks that didn't drive, but they always called to the nest, and their hens laid. Does your friend know if the cock is actually treading the hen?
Ps What color is that cock!!!!

This may sound lame...but...she is into him...LOL A greater interest to mate by one of the birds, especially the hen will increase the odds. I have a cockbird that mounts once a day...and ya, he usually only fills an egg, and he's going on 5 years. I had a great hen I culled a couple years ago that would lift up, everytime the cockbird was going for the gold. The cocks didn't seem to notice...LOL BUT, surely it must have been frustrating. She was a great hen, but I couldn't get enough birds to make it worth my time.
