Got a pal interested in the rollers now. He is planning on building a kit box soon and I will provide him with some birds.
Could you chaps post some pictures of stand alone kitboxes to give him some ideas. I know there are various on the site but thought this might be easier, useful too.
Many thanks.

Hey, Wayne. There's some very nice woodwork going on there - shame you were clearly rat-arsed when you took some of the photos. Please tell me you were indeed drunk!

Shaun LMAO i took these pics quickly. I built the loft myself with a little help from a few friends. Its about 90% complete its all double lined 3/4 ply i used 38 sheets of ply in the construction of my loft. It was 3x2 timer in the frame work and 4x2 in the roof. It sure is built to last it will outlive me that's for sure. Needs a good staining. It also mounted on brick foundation off the ground. REGARDS W@yne uk

Wayne, as an ex-sheet metal worker in the same little town Sting came from (Walker, Newcastle) - OK, I worked there for 9 months in 1972 - but it did teach me to build stuff - I do like your aluminium 'notes' plate - shame about the dent in it!
I love the sliding doors. I only wish I'd done the same. I'm sick to death of using 'normal' doors - forever trying to stop pigeons flying over my head, whilst juggling the opening of one, trying to shut another with my foot. Of course, at the same time, I'm also holding a gallon pigeon drinker, slopping water all over the floor.
I look forward to seeing proper pictures of your lofts when you're obviously not scraping crap off the floor of the old one, whilst building the new one.
Oh, I also like the sunken downlights. Cool.

A stand alone box. Two boxes each can hold 30 birds. Back side is four inches less tall then the front to give run off of rain. It is basically 8 X 4 X 4 with a partition. This is so you have very little cutting to do on a sheet of plywood. I used 5/8 inch plywood. I would recommend you don't use anything thinner, but thicker would be okay. The bottom is 1/4 inch wire fabric, better security than 1" chicken wire. Keep it simple is my motto.
This gives you a look of the interior structure.

Hey Nick, did you forget to remove the blue tarp before you put the roof on? LOL

It is just a vent with screen wire on inside. I was going to do something different with it, but changed my mind.
I used the blue tarp instead of black felt. I had the blue tarp available and didn't want to buy a full roll of black felt just to use 8 feet and have the rest of the roll setting around. The tarp was 10 X 10 I used regular roofing shingles on the tarp.

Jimbo, The trap is a drop trap. Noting on the other sire to grab onto but they still managed to find a grip occasionally. I put a strip of wire over it on a hinge and now it works fine. Flyer, Little dude is one of the super chickens. His parents are Lavin cock and Turner hen. Good producers, kinda hot but workable. I broke them up this year to see what I can come up with. ---------- V99 Good spinners don`t always make good breeders.

Kenny, When I saw the round hole figured it was a 45 ABS pipe. The black kind is what I use.3/8ths self tapping screws straight into the plywood.Works great. ---------- Kelly

Louis My kit boxes are 3 in number =4x5 x 7 1/2 ft with 30v perches fitted i usually have a kit of birds in a kit box, I also have 2 small kit boxes like you guys over there. I find no difference whatsoever but what i do find is the young are more stronger in their flying when breaking in hence flying to the loft floor then back on to the perches in my bigger kit boxes it builds muscle quicker and you get birds wanting to fly when young rather that sitting on the loft waiting to be flagged. I prefer the larger boxes definitely and its nice not to see birds hunched up looking pissed off Lol. A lot of guys fly from this site kit boxes but i don't think it makes any hoot difference in kitting issues. regards w@yne uk

I thought so,but thought i would ask and see your response. My kit boxes are twice what is the norm here and my birds kit just fine.I plan on getting a double stand alone kitbox of smaller proportions just to try something different.
