Shaun,

I'd like to ask him about how he satarted his line of birds. Where did his original birds come from and has he added anything else over the years.

also, how does he select his breeders? what are the most important traits to look for, etc.

Thanks,

Ken

Hey, Wayne - just a bit of England roller gossip - Pete Handy mentioned to me recently that George had recently commented that a kit from Deano Forster was the best he'd seen in a while. This, of course, doesn't matter in overall terms, as to the best kit George's seen over the years, but it does give an idea of who's doing well at the moment.

Yes Shaun,
George does rate as seeing great birds from the north eastern part of the country naming middlesbrough as being some best kits flying. Yes Dean flys great birds as do most of the guys in that region, I was thinking in his 40 plus years plus of keeping rollers not just in the last couple of years. Shaun it may still point in that direction i am just curious really has George has seen kits from all over the world.

Steve, ask him this:

1. Based on his travels abroad, what are the names of 5 roller flyers from the USA that have the best overall quality he's seen, and rank them from #1 to #5.

Thanks,
Russ

Please ask him what does he think about the color breeding that is going on in the USA? Ask him if he ever dabbled with color breeding or balancing? Ask him how does he prep his birds for competition? Also ask him what type of feed he feeds his birds on a daily basis? Ask him when his birds start to sky out, how he does manage to bring them back to earth (within proper flying range)? Thanks.

Steve.Ask him if he knows anyone in England who flys rollers with Crest or Color and if they can perform to the Standard of Rollers.
Also ask him if he ever bred from Rolldowns and what were the results. Thanks,David

As a little note to Daves request, make sure he understands that the "color" that Dave is refering to is from "other breeds" being crossed into the BR .

Other than Almond , same thing Dave , my money says he doesn't have a clue what you are talking about , he's a flyer.

David, is that all you can think to ask George Mason? Even if he does know of anyone who flies birds as you suggest, do you really think that's the sort of thing he would like to talk about?

Wouldn't you be more interested in how he preps his kits for the many comps he enters? - or, perhaps how he feeds young birds compared to yearlings and then compared to old birds, given that annually he enters UK comps for young birds, yearlings and old birds? Or, perhaps you might like a greater insight into him exporting his birds to places like America, South Africa and Australia, and how those guys are doing with them?

Crests, colour and rolldowns? David, I'm surprised at you.

Shaun.I asked the questions I wanted to know about from George Mason. Will he talk about them.I don't know. That is what the interview is for. What he does in preping his kits etc has no bearing on the rollers here in the USA.Different country with different weather.Even tho I have heard how he has prepped some of them.It is different each fly anyway.
What he Exports to other Countrys I am not interested in.
Maybe you could ask those questions and Steve can have them in his results.

Scott. You might be surprised at what all George knows.
Being a flyer has nothing to do with anything.I am a Flyer and I know about them. You are a Flyer and you know about them. David

Ask him if he gives a rats ass what us pompous Yanks are doing with our birds. Then ask him if it pisses him off that Americans use his name as a marketing tool to sell rollers.

BTW, you can tell him those were my questions. We communicate a few times year. He has been quite generous with me.

David, if you're not interested in the bigger picture, why on earth would George Mason waste his time talking about matters which wouldn't interest him?

As for his rollers having no bearing on what goes on in the US due to the weather. I really don't get you - The US is a continent. Are you telling me that Florida or California in February has the same weather as Chicago or New York?

Shaun.Steve said he was doing an interview with George Mason. He asked if anyone had any questions they wanted him to ask.I asked my questions. What is the big deal? You have nothing in it.They are my questions. If George wants to answer them he will if not he won't.Maybe he don't want bothered with any questions.
As for the weather being the same in the North and the South US in Feb. Of coarse they are not the same. And there is no Flys going on at this time either. Why would I want to know how George preps his family of rollers when I have another family anyway.David

Steve , Two things.
1. what kind of progress does he feel that he has made in the past 5 years , and if there was progress, what was it and how did he achieve it ?

2. How closely does he breed his birds inbreeding/linebreeding ?

Scott. This thread has nothing to do with you either unless you have a question you want to ask George.
Why do you always have to reply to post that you have no reason to? Are you trying to get me upset? Won't work buddy.
Remember the Moderator of this site brought up the Color thing to ask George first. Were you afraid to jump on his case about it?
And just for the record if I was fortunate to ever get to talk to George I would ask him about a lot of other things too.David
