Has anyone ever added salt to the water in the winter time to help it from freezing or will it affect the birds ,thanks..Dave

They like a drink of salty water once in awhile(epsom salts in the bath),but to have enough salt in the water to stop it from freezing on a regular basis,,,I don't think it would be good for them. ---------- Kelly

You would be surprised how much salt it takes to prevent freezing. Try salting an ice cube, an old firehouse trick for the next days crew! Thom

Occasionally I take a rabbit salt lick and cut it into quarters and then place one into a small feed cup and pour water over it and put it in the breeding loft. They go nuts for it.
