Trev, what is your email? I will send you some paper forms. And if you wait a little while, there will be a complete and comprehensive loft management and analysis database software coming up soon. The user friendly software will allow you to track and manage your loft and slice and dice the data for performance analysis. I am finally very excited seeing my program coming to completion.

Thank you all. I am currently researching of how to package the software with the runtime version of MS Access so that people who don't have MS Access on their PC or have an older version can run the software. I also have about 4 more reports to finish (small time stuff).
I developed the software using MS Access 2000 then convert it to 2002. But to be able to create a packaged solution (Software plus MS Access engine), I need MS Office 2003. MS Office 2003 ships with Access 2003 runtime and the license to redistribute solutions with the Access runtime is available exclusively through the Access Developer Extensions which I need to research how to purchase it. I am working on it and once I get this issue resolved, the software will be ready. I think I need couple more weeks or a little longer.
Wayne, what do you mean by paper forms thingy you are talking about? Are you talking about a print copy of the forms in the software?
I will post what the software is capable of doing to track the data to manage the loft, and all the reporting aspect of the software in a few days. I assure you it does it all for the most part. Please stay tuned and thanks for your support.

My friends,
This software really resembles what you do manually to manage your loft. It is that simple. Let’s say you have your breeder loft and kit boxes built and you are going to start in rollers. First you go out shopping for roller families, some of us settle on one family while others might get three or four families. Then you select cocks and hens that are worth breeding. Once you identify your breeders, you put the cocks in one corner and the hens in another and start matching them to see which pair looks good together based on the performance compatibility. After that you mate them together. You wait a little while and you have babies produced on monthly bases, then you band them and you keep track which squeaker from which pair and who is his nest mate and so on. Your breeders don’t always produce like champs; some might have fertility or hatchability problems while others might be producing on the clock. Those squeakers are then moved to the kit box which at this time untested. Few months down the road some prove themselves to be keepers, some will be culled and some be lost to predators, overfly, sold or loaned and other methods. Sometimes the fancier like to break up some of his breeders within the same season or every season to put them on different mates. Sometimes he puts one breeder cock on several breeder hens. Every bird you have whether is a breeder, squeaker or flyer, the status would be considered active unless they are sold, loaned, culled, lost or killed. Then you start moving kit birds from a kit box to a kit box (to A team, B team etc.). Now your friend Joe Blow comes to visit you and he likes your birds, so you loan him couple breeders and sell him few kit birds. Most likely you don’t mark anywhere when he borrowed the breeders and when he is suppose to bring them back and how much you sold him each flyer. And the process repeats season after season.
The software does the same thing. It is a menu driven.
First menu (Main) let you choose The following: 1) Screen Menu (Sub Main Menu#1) 2) Report Menu (Sub Main Menu#2) 3) Exit
If you choose the ‘1’ Screen Menu (Sub Main Menu#1), there are three choices: 1) Performance Pigeon Data Entry Menu 2) Performance Pigeon Search and Update Menu 3) Performance Pigeon Search and View Menu 4) Return ----- (will take you back to the main menu)
If you select ‘1’ (Date Entry) it will take you to the next menu for data entry and the selections are: 1) Enter Pigeon Families 2) Enter Breeder Cocks 3) Enter Breeder Hens 4) Enter Offspring and Flyers 5) Enter Cock to Hen Mating 6) Enter Pigeon Transactions 7) Enter Fertility problems with Mates 8) Return ---- (will take you one menu back to the calling menu)
If you select ‘2’ (Search and Update) from the screen menu it will take you to the next menu and the selection are: 1) View and Update Pigeon Families 2) View and Update Breeder Cocks 3) View and Update Breeder Hens 4) View and Update Offspring and Flyers 5) View and Update Mated breeders 6) View and Update Rollers Transaction 7) View and Update Fertility Problems 8) Return
If you select ‘3’ (Search and View) from the screen menu it will take you to the next menu and the selection are: 1) View Breeder Cock and his Mates 2) View Breeder Hen and her Mates 3) View Breeder Cock and all his Offspring 4) View Breeder Hen and all her Offspring 5) View a Youngster and his Father and Mother. 6) Return
If you go back to the Main Menu and select ‘2’ Reports menu, you get the next selection: 1) Roller Husbandry tracking Menu 2) Breeder Cock Tracking Menu 3) Breeder Hen Tracking Menu 4) Flyers and Offspring Tracking Menu 5) Performance Pigeon Analysis 6) Return
If you select ‘1’ for Husbandry Tracking, the following report selection appears: 1) All Families Information Tracking Report 2) One Family Information Tracking Report 3) Fertility Problems Tracking By Date range Report 4) Return
If you select ‘2’ for Breeder Cock Tracking, the following report selection appears: 1) Breeder Cocks By Date Range Report 2) Breeder Cock By Band Number Report 3) All Active Breeder Cocks By Date Range Report 4) Breeder Cocks By Date Range and Status Report 5) Breeder Cocks and their Offspring By Date Range Report 6) A Breeder Cock and his Offspring By Date Range Report 7) Return
If you select ‘3’ for Breeder Hen Tracking, the following report selection appears: 1) Breeder Hens By Date Range Report 2) Breeder Hen By Band Number Report 3) All Active Breeder Hens By Date Range Report 4) Breeder Hens By Date Range and Status Report 5) Breeder Hens and their Offspring By Date Range Report 6) A Breeder Hen and her Offspring by Date Range Report 7) Return
If you select ‘4’ for Flyers and Offspring Tracking, the following report selection appears: 1) Active Flyers By Date Range report 2) All flyers By Date Range and Status Report 3) Flyers and Youngsters Tracking By Band Number Report 4) Flyers in a Kit By Kit Box tracking Report 5) Return
If you select ‘5’ for Performance Pigeon Analysis Tracking, the following report selection appears: 1) Breeder Cocks Analysis Menu 2) Breeder Hens Analysis Menu 3) Flyers Analysis Menu 4) Return
If you select ‘1’ from above for Breeder Cocks Analysis, the following report selection appears: 1) Breeder Cocks By Performance Measurement Report 2) Breeder Cock/Offspring By Performance Measurement Report 3) Sold Breeder Cocks Information By Date Range Report 4) Loaned Breeder Cocks Information By Date Range Report 5) Return
If you select ‘2’ from the Performance Analysis Tracking, the following report selection appears: 1) Breeder Hens by Performance Measurement Report 2) Breeder Hen/offspring By Performance Measurement Report 3) Sold Breeder Hens Information By Date Range Report 4) Loaned Breeder Hens Information By Date Range Report 5) Return
If you select ‘2’ from the Performance Analysis Tracking, the following report selection appears: I am still working on the reports in this section as well as more reports for analysis to the Breeder Cocks and Hen.
Now you see how involved this software and the work behind it. I will send a word document about the software and screen prints of the Tracking System to give you an early peak into the software. Remember that I was creating this software for my own use, but when I realized of how sophisticated it is I though of make it available to the rest of the roller community. Most likely this software when finished, be available from Roller-Pigeon.com through Tony. Him and I need still to discuss terms and the how and the when and How much. I will keep you posted on the progress. Stay tuned for more. Thanks.

I like to keep it a tad simpler , in a book are band numbers for the year , next to that are what parents the bird is out of and date born , then color and eye color , after that it's slight notes , when it started hammering with qaulity ,A team , stock, cull , died ect. ect. . The book is "everything" nor does the book ever ever leave the house , and it is always at hand , to be honest , I'm really not sure why anything else is needed.
