I have a breeder hen (6 years old) that has a tumor on its wing. It appears to be growing. Would you cull; remove wing; allow to live afflicted? The tumor cannot be surgically removed.

Hey Nick, I would breed from it until the bird appeared to be in pain. At that point, I would destroy it.

If it is a valuable bird, have you thought about an avian vet taking a look at it and seeing if there is a chance to operate? Have you sought a second opinion?

I took it to the University of Tennesse Med. School to have the wing x-rayed(snuck in with a friend). The Tumor is in the bone. There is a vet. who specializes in birds in Memphis (15 minutes away). Very good bird and I would hate to see it die, but I could live without her. I have enough of her offspring to keep her bloodline active.
