Eastern Arkansas is a wildlife paradise. Had three different species of birds-of-prey attack this morning. Red Shoulder; Goshawk; and a Cooper. I also had a Redtail give'em a look but flew on. There are ducks on the pound; BOPs must not like water or maybe the quacking bothers them. The local mochingbirds did not give chase today; I guess they didn't like the odds.

Sounds like paradise alright Nick...lol You should have been at my house this morning to see the Pere crash into one of my lofts at mach one while chasing a bird. Staring face to face with the ultimate creature of death only feet away was very interesting. I love it when they fail to navigate properly....LOL.

Nick, how close to Fort Smith are you? My wife has relatives there and we get up there once or twice a year. I would love to see your birds fly if I could. Chad

Chad,
Fort Smith is on the west side of the state......I am about as far east you can get without being in Tennessee.
It is the Mississippi River that conducts the BOPs into the area. It is a flyway for many of species of birds, hence the hawks and falcons. I need to probably wait a week or so before it get an "all clear" I think.
You are always welcome if you ever come this way. That goes for anybody and if you need a place to stay I have the room. You will have to poor your own coffee and rumage through the refridgerator yourself....plenty to eat.

I can't remember the last time I had a hawk attack, I had a red shoulder land in a tree when I was flying today but left me alone. I had a hawk almost hit my house one day when he was chasing a young bird Now that is paradise.

A funny thing happened to me this weekend! While flying my kit,2 Peregrine falcons showed up with intent to kill.Out of the wind breakers in front of my house(home for a couple of Red Tails)a pair of Red tails began to chase the peregrines away! For once i was happy to see the red tails.I'm sure that will not repeat itself too many times!
