When the site is slow, I do appreciate the efforts of some to "liven" things up by posting non-roller pigeon photos and topics, but I would rather things go a bit slow than to water-down the useful content on the site with such topics and photos.

I hope you understand.
------------------------
UPDATE: Okay, nevermind, just start the topic with "OFF TOPIC" and don't hijack another thread that has nothing to do with what they were talking about. That's fair, right?

Tony I agree 100%!!! There is a lot of information to sort through...and to have to dig through non related topics totally SUCKS!!!

I think that you should go through the posts and delete any posts that are not roller related...like the ATV jumping......the stuff is funny...not to me...I used to race ATVs..lol.....but anyway. I agree. I do not mind a funny photo thrown into a roller thread....but I think that Starting a thread that is not roller related is a waste of time and server space. Just my thoughts...

Tony,
I am assuming that this is meant for anyone who has "ever" posted anything other than a "roller" comment or picture? Thats like telling math students in math class to discuss nothing but math. Ur site, do as you please. I for one like to see and hear as others do outside of there pigeon world.... It will cut down on my time on this site if all that is ever discussed is the same "old" roller talk that is said a thousand different ways but always the same being said! Very boring...Just my 2 cents...I can learn the same from reading, as I do daily, but to see and hear on occasion what interest others is what makes it worth while...Jerry

I agree with M-flier...it is nice to see what people are interested in...like the fishing photos that Scott posted..the hunting photos....but I think the stuff that has nothing to do with the roller fanciers on this site....like just posting stuff just to post. I enjoy seeing what other fanciers are into during the slow times on the site...

Tony...it is your site...so I think if you feel that something is totally not related to rollers or faniers..then delete it.

Paul, I like ya, but this is the DUMBEST thing I have read in one of your posts:

"Tony I agree 100%!!! There is a lot of information to sort through...and to have to dig through non related topics totally SUCKS!!!"

Tony, the solution is simple, make an OFF TOPIC channel in the forums table. That way the roller stiffs can read only roller posts and those with a sense of humor and outgoing personalities can also enjoy posts showing off or discussing things that we share in common, yet isn't about rollers.

If everyone contributed and collaborated in a professional sense, there is an opportunity for this website to be a living document that archives very useful and interesting information, and is user friendly - the best guidance documents available for performing rollers; or, a big mess of disorganized information that is not near as helpful and could degenerate to non user friendly and not worth the bother because of all the unrelated useless disinteresting crap that someone chooses to insert that must be waded through to search for information.

I also enjoy seeing what others are up to, especially when we are all so far apart. It is usually fairly easy to spot a non roller related topic. It actually is more anoying when a particualr post is highjacked for something irrelevant. Something I am sure I have also been guilty of in the past.

I'm with Brian. Lots of sites have different areas to discuss different things. While it may dilute things slightly I think it would also keep things simpler. I would think it may even be worth while having a slot for anyone who would like to discuss the colour issues. I know this is your business Tony, inviting more posts on more subjects may be a better way to go.

This thread just goes to show you can't please everyone! LOL

Hey Arlen, I hear what you are saying about the mass of non-roller topics, one way around this is to use the "Search Roller-Pigeon.Com" link--------->

You can look up a "word" (kit, Brian, foster, etc) or phrase ("breed from rolldowns", etc) and select one of the 3 search options:

"Find ANY word"
"Find ALL words"
"Find EXACT phrase"

Depending on how you search, search results can be anywhere from a few pages to several hundred. Even these search results can be further narrowed down.

This search tool is the most important feature on the site to do research and learn (or laugh).

We have close to 3000 (three thousand) pages of articles, threads, posts, etc of content that this search will sift through and provide you results.

This feature is paid for by those who donate and buy our products. So I "Thank You" again!!

Hey Brian....How is that DUMB by saying it sucks that you have to dig through all the crap that is meaningless. I have a pretty good sense of humor and I myself have posted photos of non-related roller stuff...and I do get a laugh at some of the things that you post. I never thought about an off the topic area..but that makes sense...but I don't think that it is a dumb comment saying that it sucks digging through lots of stuff that is totally meaningless....if you are looking for good roller info. Anyway....Stupid is as Stupid does...LOL!!

Shouldn't you be working right now!!! LOL!

Paul, you don't have to "dig" through anything. The comment you made makes it sounds like it is some tiresome, troublesome affair trying to filter through posts. I know your comment was more of trying to simply go with the flow, but the reality is there is no filters. You simply click on a topic, and if it isn't one you find interesting, click back to the main forum listing and see if there is another you would like to check out. The reality is we, you included, click on every thread that is new or at the top for the day, regardless of what the topic title states. I am on a bunch of different forums, including the ones for our work. I always get a kick out of people posting that "it is so hard or troublesome" to click through the posts to find what you want to read. Um,,,,Hello...you would anyways...lol. Sometimes people take these forums waaaaaayyyyyy too serious and fail to use common logic. It's a damn mouse click! Not like having to walk house to house...lol.

I have no problem clicking to the next post when something bores me, but maybe a seperate channel for the way off the wall stuff. I enjoy looking at pictures of the families and homes. I think it brings us closer together. My son wrestles in the state championships this weekend, and after that I will have some time to get busy with camera and share some pictures. Of course my pictures will mostly be of my birds, I don't have any toys to speak of! LOL

Brian,

I am not a total retard...I know how to use a mouse...please do not insult my intelligence....but It still takes time to dig through all of the posts....it is a lot easier to dig through 75 topics instead of 100 topics. I am was mainly talking about new fanciers coming on...and some new fanciers are even new to computers.....and when you are new...you look at every thread...and you may not even understand what a title of a thread means if you are new....I am just saying it would SUCK to have to dig through non related roller stuff if you are on a computer with a crappy connection..and you wait for 20 minutes for the pictures to download.....and the title of the thread was Bad Day..you are thinking it is about a roller fancier bad day...maybe an overfly...and then you finally down load the photos. after 20 minutes..and it is some dude on an ATV with the wheels coming off....to me THAT WOULD SUCK!!! for both the ATV rider and the guy who just waited forever for photos to download... that is just one example. I myself who have been on this site since its inception can't remember the titles to 500 threads and have looked at titles that I thought would be meaningful and were not....it SUCKED..especially on certain days I was cramped for time...and I know how to use one of them there mices and that little flat thing with letters and that TV screen...duh...so not everybody has lightning fast connections, computer know how, and can tell from the title that a thread is going to be a roller thread because lack of experience in rollers...or the fact that the title does not say BAD DAY...with ATV Crashes etc.

So..to make a long story short...I was not talking about myself or any of the other regulars...I was talking about the ones that will HAVE to take time going back over threads. My opinion is that it sucks a very small little tiny bit to try and find a thread when sorting through the non roller stuff....Thanks for the lesson on how to use a mouse and click...but never underestimate the power of the handicap..rock and ROLL.....LOL
