Have you ever put down 10 or more pairs, only to have half or less produce at the same time? Would you raise what you got or start all over?

Raise what you got. It works out well.

I would raise them, and on the second round switch to wooden eggs till they all have laid. Then pull the wooden ones all at the same time to try and get them back on schedule.

I think it is harder this time of year to get consistant laying. I like to get everybody down on eggs including the fosters and then pull all the eggs and usually I'll get them to all lay at the same time. The problem is this sets you back a couple of weeks. It seems that some pairs just won't cooperate. They have to do it their way and I usually give in to their wishes.

I put down 11 pairs and all but four were right on the money...2 pairs laid about 2 weeks later, 1 pair laid on schedule with the second round and one pair has yet to lay. Starting early usually ends up that way..the cocks are not as cocky and it is cold...etc....It is amazing..around March and April...every pair lays like clock work..

I would raise the round and move on.

You can use feeder pairs to get your pairs back together any time during the breeding season. Just wait till all your pairs lay, even over a 2 week period, and then put the eggs under the feeders all at the same time. The babies raised by the feeders will be various ages but the next round by your breeding pairs should all be layed about the some time.

I had a successful first round this time. Since it has been cold I let all of them sit their eggs. I did get 2 pairs of breeders to lay again. I have 14 on chicks now. Raise those eggs.

hello Everyone,
I had same problem last year and this year... Put them down at the same time last year 10 pairs and this year 12 pairs well some laid eggs two weeks apart and 1 pair just laid their first round of eggs and on schedule w/ the ones on their second round. last year around march or april were within a week so i think they kinda start to synchronize lol
