Hey Tony,
I got a pair of rudy rollers from you about like 2 years ago. The male got picked off by a falcon. I was wondering, in your opinon is it ok for me to cross it with another family of rollers or should I keep it pure and get another male?

I can't speak for Tony, but I would work something out with Tony. You are still in the infant stage of working with this line.I have been workind with them for 3 years and have 4 -20 ft smokers ,all Lavenders.I admit,I haven't worked tham as hard as my other familys, but this year is starting to show promise.I think this is pretty much the process when starting with a new line.To cross in other blood now would be a step backwards and experimental at best.As long as you like what you see,I'd work it out with Tony....Aloha,Todd

Johnny You shouldnt have flown birds you bought. You should breed and fly the young, What is it with this beginners that have to fly every bird they buy, I just got a call from a guy i sold 2 old stock birds that hadnt flown in 3 years ,now he calld and wants to buy mors becouse he said they flew away,i told him they where out of shape from breeding and that he should never fly them. My opinion but if a pay good mony for a bird its becouse i trust the breeder when he tells me they are good birds i will breed them and fly the young. Hector C

Hector,
I understand what you are saying about not flying birds you buy from a good breeder. But hey as a beginner in any subject, its a trial and error experience. We make mistakes and learn from that. And I have learned that. Next time I'm going to do this again.
Todd,
Thats exactly what I was thinking. I should not let the families inter breed. But for the moment, I just going to try this for fun to see what happens till I can get me another Ruby male. Just that I have another male free and this female is just sitting around not doing anything. Might as will breed them and see what their offsprings can do.
Thanks j0nny
