Jord,
I like the box perch for the kitboxes(8"X8").In a 4'X4'X3' kitbox you can fit over 30 box type perches.Leave a 1/2" gap between the perch and the wall for the shit to be scaped easily.

I use v perches. I feel it keeps my birds cleaner than box perches and facilitates keeping them calmer in the box.

This one is cheap and easy and works great in a open setting. No up or down. Just draw a level line on the wall screw it and forget it. Make sure to glue the joints good. Those cocks hitting it a thousand times will break it loose at the lower joint. You can make it longer, taller or shorter for whatever you need.

I use this one when I pull out the breeder boxes over the winter

Whats the easiest way to hold V perches up??

Is it by making a lot of them then nailing them to a 2x3 or 2x4 then nailing the 2x4 to the wall of the lofts?

Once you have the v-perches screwed together(predrill holes in the wood before screwing so they don't crack)cut a plywood square about 8"X8" and screw that to the backside of the v-perch.Now screw the plywood to the wall of the kitbox.I like box perches best myself. You can get way more in a kitbox.

Do you have to sand down the top of the V perches so the points not sharp but rather smooth for the birds feet?? Or does it not matter?

Andrew,I use kinda the same, except I turn them so the birds perch on the narrow edge.Same results here, the birds stay very clean. Nick

Forgot to say,I use V perches also, but you don't have to scrape the straight ones anywhere near as much. Nick

What size wood are you guys making your straight perches out of?? I have lots of 2x4s and a couple of 2X3s...

How long do you make them?? And how far apart are they spaced?

TheGame.........I use 1/2" x6" pine board planks. I cut 1 piece 6" long and the other one 5 1/2 long. Nail the longer piece to the shorter piece to form a V.(@ piece is
6" long). Then cut piece of wood 4" square. Nail it to the back of the V so a point of the square is even to the point of the V perch. Pre-drill (2 holes)in the 4" square piece and screw it to the wall. I put them 9" apart from top to bottom and at the widest part of the V,2 1/2" apart.

i like the "V" perches because they don't crap on each other and when the poop falls of the perch it is dried up easy too clean

Jord,I measured my perches. They are a 10" 2X3 with a opposite 45 cut on each end.I made mine a little long so the ORs tail clears the wall,8 or 9" would probably be plenty for a Birm.I cut a 2" wide strip of 1/2" plywood and screw through it into the perches and then screw through the plywood into the wall.
