I am trying to understand exactly what an oddside is. Is it odd as opposed to even? (one white side as opposed to two) Is it odd as in unusual? What is the difference between an oddside and a saddle? Thanks

Wayne,
One things for sure the language spoken in the Roller world is very limited to what is used within the circle of guys in which you associate with. This is why so often we here of a guy saying he raised a certain color out of two birds that can't raise that color according to his or her discription of the bird. Identification is a must and the key to determining what the final product is. Very small details can be noticed by the extemist in color genetics that would indicate why these colors show up. Remeber I am talking about color not patterns BIG differrence!!

Now as far as the Odd side goes it is no more than a marked pigeon that has more color to one side of the wing shield than the other. If you have a saddle marked bird and you want to know what a Oddside would look like just drag the saddle mark to one side or the other and bingo you've got what guys refer to as an oddside. The opposite side of the marked bird would be white. This is just like what they refer to in the horse world of Paint quarter horses. They use the term Tobiano and Overo. One has more white spread across the horse than the other.
Hope this helps Ivan

I do not know much about color birds but I would consider that a mosaic...

Hey Parlor guy,
A mozaic has two differrent patterns split right down the center of the bird. One side of the bird can be barred and the other side can be checked and have two seperate colors on each side. The theorey on the fluke look is that two cock birds in sucession of one another topped the same hen. However that theorey didn't hold up when a guy raised one in a IBP. This occurs on the chromosone linkage its called an epistatic linkage where the chromosones flip. Genes are wierd things and can do many differrent things. So as far as the bird pictured it is not a Mozaic.
