hey dude,
I don't know about odd side but with some colors or patterns the parents need to both carry it to get it. For example if you have a pair of recessive reds they can only produce recessive reds and if you have birds that carry recessive red even though they aren't that color and you put two of them together they can produce it.
I would say that odd side is that both of them are carrying that pattern in your case beings that both don't show that color.
I have several birds that are not barred but if I put them to a certain mate they will produce a barred bird in nearly every round.
In some, especially the solid blacks, you can see a pattern in the birds wings, whether it's bar or check but you can see it.
Well that is my view on it.

Both are pie bald, and probably neither is restricted to the homozygous state of a particular pied marking (badge, baldhead, bellneck, etc.) It is not out of the ordinary to produce an oddside from two piebalds. In fact it is more common than one might think.

Thanks for your help. That's what I thought too the one with the best white sides would be best to breed together. Thanks again. DJ
