Hector, you are totally right in what you have said. I spend allot of time on this site but I don't post that much. I have opinions too but there is a real feel on this site that makes it really hard to post and contribute. Toni if you don't think that there are several people on this forum that run people away and cost you money then you are totally wrong. I for one will tell you that when you allow these people to bully and belittle others it makes me question your character. I choose very carefully who I do business with. There is bullying and belittling going on here no matter how you look at it. In my opinion the 5% costs you 100%. Toni this site has the ability to be several times bigger than it is with the right decisions and direction. Joe

Well Hector and Frankie, you may be pleased to see I deleted the thread you were probably referring to. Just to make it clear, this site is open to anyone who breeds roller pigeons, whether Birmingham Rollers, color rollers or so-called performance rollers or Oriental Rollers. It is open to all and the challenges they face pursuing the roller hobby.
Some members have strong opinions they don't mind sharing, but now, my policy is when controversial topics that have been discussed to the nth degree are brought up again, and unless it has taken on some new dimension not previously covered, I leave it to my discretion to edit, modify or remove posts or threads.
Please realize, that what you did not like about those posts, a number of others could have cared less and a number of others would have loved it to have remained.
I am not looking for controversy, just good honest discussion and open minds from all sides and angles to have fun and enjoyment while learning and sharing what they know with others.
I do not baby-sit this site and monitor every word posted with an eye toward who is it offending, if I did, no one could post! LOL
Thanks for caring about what is posted. Your opinions count too. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Hey Joe, I agree with you. I am questioning my character too. I ask myself why it is impossible to please 100% of the people 100% of the time. I ask why can't Roller-Pigeon.Com be all things to all people. I wonder why for every one opinion expressed there are 10 others with the opposite opinion.
I wonder how I keep this site up day after day, year after year catching grief for its very existence because it doesn't please everyone 100% of the time.
I wonder what kind of character I have that I can stick it out this long...
Someday too, my grandson will read your post and disagree with you. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Hang in there Tony. I have faith in you. I think this is a great site but I think it could be better. If a few people would just chill out and not always want to start BS. Personally, I don't think you should have deleted the thread earlier. I don't think you should delete any threads. Just clean them up a little or make the person who wrote it clean it up. I think everyone on this site should have plenty of time to read the posts, so they can all get a better feel of the people that's on this site. Thanks! Frankie

Ken, Sounds light on the feed.Try feeding on the basis of 1 cup(8 oz.) per ten birds and they may have more energy to get up higher.Good luck. ---------- Kelly PS.It's nice to see genuine questions rather than all the BS that goes on here at times.

Bullying and belittleing are strong words to use in regards to how some feel about their way of raising and training THEIR birds! I don't feel that there is or has been any bullying going on, maybe some see it that way, but those same people need to open their eyes and see what is really being said!. In order for someone to be a bully, they have to have a person to bully. If you are that person being bullied, then skip the post, and they would have no-one to bully.. JMHO...Jerry ----------

Ken, Some families are low fliers. Others develop bad habits early. Flying young birds in 15-20plus winds early in their lives will cause them to look for wind breaks. Once into a bad habit such as this it is hard to break them. You said you are only flying four. I would try the extra feed, if that doesn't work, lock them down for a while until you have a larger kit to work with. Get ten or twelve more on the wing and flying above the trees, then individually add these four one at a time every three days so that they don't group and pull your younger birds down. First sign that you see them bringing the younger birds down, pull them and work them seperately and if it is a bad habit, do what is necessary, cull'em. Gregg.

Ken My turners use more feed than other families. As others have said they are to light. You will find that with the turner line you wont have to starve them out to make the roll. The performance will deteriorate as you lean them out. If you are used to flying keel cutters it will take a bit to get used to feeding them for max performance I know I had a hard time with it at first. now I love the heck out of em and will have to work hard to keep the feed lighter on the new family I am getting next month. The turners are breed for early development so feed them up quick and push them up or you may wind up missing the important development period. As for flying in the wind I have to if it is under 50 mph they go up !!! other wise I would miss half my hawk free time. I have only flown here for 2 years but they havent shown any adverse habits when the wind settles down in the summer of course I will fly them in all weather I have no qualms pushing them out in rain or snow but then I have been told that I work my turners harder than they need to be. c.j.

Hector , are you talking to me ? of coarse you are. I asked some honest questions, why is that a problem ? There isn't a new guy on this list that has asked for help that I havn't tried to help.
Since I bother you so much why don't you just ask Tony to ask me to leave and I'm gone, if he won't take a vote , if it goes your way , I'm outa here.

I have been around since last summer, read most every post, I don't always agree with your tact Scott, but I would say your honest and your out to help! I vote you stay around! There is a full spectrum of personalities on this site, but thats what makes it interesting! JMHO
I like Otis's first post on the "its all about the birds" topic! I think his statement kinda puts things in a nutshell for me!
I probably should of stayed out of this one but I haven't been fired on lately so what the hell! Fire away guys!LOL

I find it interesting and very curious that no names were mentioned or fingers pointed yet the last 2 posts were voting for Scott to stay around? I don't come around as much as I used to because there seems to always be some sort of uncomfortable posting going on or someone getting taken advantage due to lack of knowledge. Sometimes thrusting the hard true facts at a novice is not the correct way of nurturing them into our hobby. It take patience and understanding to help our young people getting into the hobby. Take note that sometimes older people "most of us here" are short with patience and down right grumpy. What a great way to hold a young person starting off attention! NOT! I know there are alot of people that are involved with this site and most are lurkers like myself. Its only 4 or 5 people that come here and post almost every day. Sometimes it looks to be a club of a few and the rest aren't the best! I personally don't have a problem clicking on the X when the reading is not good.

Hello BR, the fact of the matter is discussion boards generally only have about 1% of it users post regularly, about 9% less often and the 90% never to hardly ever at all.
There is really no surprise that more do not post. I would say the numbers are about right for this site.
Be glad, if everyone who registered to post actually posted, you could not keep up with all the threads and posts! LOL
The key to using this site and finding info to read and respond to is to research topics of interest using the search feature on the first page of the discussion page.
The site can't be all things to all people, it won't please everyone, so it will at least have to satisfy me all the time. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Hector, BR, you other guys,I refrain from my comments a lot too. I never know when one of these hard asses (won't metion names)(Scott,Nick,BMC,Knaylor, hehe) are gonna rip me a new one, but I dedcided that I am gonna fly in the world cup someday. This forum is gonna help me to get there, hopefully! Sometimes, they're harsh but they're usually honest! Besides, when their rippin somebody, I'm usually thinkin, damn, I had the same question! Glad he asked besides me! LOL I think a lot of these questions and comments that annoy them, are still subjects important on my level! If you notice, they talk to each other the same way, and I know they respect each other.Hell, one of these guys might walk into my yard some day to judge my birds! Fine with me!
I have a hard time explaning what I'm trying to say, but in short, I think we that mostly lurk in the background, need to start showing some sack and get ourselves in the game! Hell, they can't eat us!JMO

Val , I can't ever remember someone geting ripped on for asking a question , that would be a real problem in my book. When it gets wild is when someone come in making silly claims or down right trying to bullshit everyone , and I gotta admit that I like to yank a few chains here and there just because it is there to yank.

Val, Where do you think Scott gets all that protien for his power lifting. He has an ten foot bar-b-que grill with a spit just as long that can handle up to a side of beef. That means us smaller guys tend to stay towards the back edge of the crowd so we don't get noticed. Not enough meat on our bones. Big Smile Gotta go to work, but couldn't resist biting on this one. Always pays to be looking over your shoulder.LOL. Gregg.

Well, I am trying to get better at picking my battles. The battle I have chosen is when breeders decide to breed something that is not a Birmingham Roller into the Birmingham Roller and then fly or sell it as a Birmingham Roller or use the term Roller in misleading ways.
I am not for sure my friends and relatives think of me as a "hard ass". I am trying to work at not being precieved as being a hard ass. It is NOT a title that I am proud of.
Just don't grin in my face while you lie to me. Be up front and cut the bullshit.

as the saying goes you cannot have forward movement without friction, and without contravercy the sport would be less attractive it goes without saying that opinions will vary from one person to another. just like the constitution do you really belive that our founding fathers thought that this little paper would agree with everyone? the answer is no.but never the less with different opinions they followed along. and those opinions just like in this forum must go challenged and that is what makes this forum unique and contrast. and keeps people just like you hector coming back. and you dont like contrast why in the hell would you be constantly coming back, i will tell you because you yourself like controvercy. it makes your day a little better with a little challeng. but as for the newbie they take from this forum more info than they would from any book or mentor because at a distance (hidden in the background of their computer) they could ask the questions without guilt or embarrestment. and they in turn could take the information or leave it for another. dont get mad but it you are not happy then give you 2 cents and helpout with your own expertise instead of contradicting. and challenge those to your own opinions.or an actual fly-off.to put to rest your own thoughts or opinions.
for the newbie their is no bad question or dumm one the only bad questions is the one not asked!!!!!
and take from this forum what you want and put to the test in the end its up to the one who uses the info that wins. by trial and error only does one learn. so the info placed here by the true flyers. such as scotty, kenny, milo, jack myers, and others that truely are for the sport of flying the true birmingham roller. to this people you guys own a great deal of respect because. without guys keeping the birds in their purest form will be destroyed by the guys who only cross them to get their own color birds to roll. dont get me wrong their are guys who do breed excellent color birds. so i am refering to those who are constantly looking for that exotic color. and not the persuit of the best performance.
just my 2 cents steve.

If a person post a picture of a crossbreed and says its a pure roller of course he,s gonna get bashed.
Some one once told me as a kid if you ask a stupid question youlle get a stupid answer.
