Had a friend come up for the first time since I got back into rollers from my childhod. He is a second gen. flyer, flew in local comps in the 90s around OK City. Got out of it a few years back when his club dismembered and hawks got most of his good birds. Anyways, we both got started late last summer! He was gonna come up and tweek my program and give me his opinons of what I need to change. He also figured that I didn't have any birds that would suit him. After visiting my loft, he doesn't want me to visit his loft for a while! He claimed I was way ahead of him at this point! He said I had a good eye for the right type of bird and wanted to know where I picked that trait up at. I told him this was a good forum, now he is gonna check it out. He liked my loft and kit boxes, so I let my young kit out and they kitted like glue. Not a lot of action but their just 3-6 mo. old, the ones that did roll, sling shoted back to the kit. It was a good day for me in all! I know I still have a ton to learn, but for the first person to see my loft, I at least felt I was heading in a good direction. Not bragging, but just feeling kind of proud! I would like to compete in a year or so.
Thanks Tony, for providing this forum, and thanks to all you guys for providing me with info.,pictures, and ideas to get me this far! Kinda kool!

I gave my buddy all the birds that I didn't know their blood plus the jacs I had. Nothing against jacs, but thats all he ever raised and were gonna work together and I can get them back if they work out better than what I got. I have two main families now plus 4 Gary stephens birds. Gonna keep all seperate and try to learn what makes them tick. I have 3out of 4 pr of my Urban birds on eggs. Their young, and I will let them raise their first round and then start usuing fosters for them later. I will focus extremely hard on them for my comp birds. My Turners will be for back yard fun right now. I will let them fly first to ckeck the skies. Later this summer, I've just got to fit some Rubys in their also. I've liked their looks since the first day I saw one!
Can't see anything but a long road ahead, but I can't think of anything I would rather be doing!

I'm in the same boat Val...long road ahead but it's half the fun tring to get what you want(breeding towards your goals.)I have some Bob Scott stuff, really like the look on some of those guys! Also some Reed birds and a couple of Duncan birds.Got some oddballs to play w/ but i won't waist to much time on them if they don't pan out.I'm really enjoying breeding. My only pet peeve is the preds and seeing my best prospects get taken.I lost a couple i really liked(perfect type)but you have to fly them to see what they'll do(and for quite a while)..what are you gonna do!!!!

Val,
Probably the reason why he didn't want to show his birds fly because yours would have kicked his birds asses....LOL
