Hey guys I thought it would be kind of fun to see just how many of you have names for your birds.
Dave S has his "Eagle"
Ken B. has his "Hollywood" How about the rest of you guys do you name your birds and what is the name of your favorite one in your loft.
Here's some that run around my neck of the woods.
Steady Freddie

Sweetie; Rosie; Grumpy; Smitty; Queen (just died with a tumor); Daddy. Suzie (killed by dog 52 years ago); Speck (my first truly good roller-the one even adults asked to buy 51 years ago). Haven't really named any others. Suzie was mated to Speck and Suzie was unable to fly because of an accident with a powerline that broke her wing. I had Suzie out of the loft with her last hatchings(squeakers) when she was attacked by a strange dog to the neighborhood. Speck actually stayed with Suzie to fight the dog and only Suzie was killed by the time I ran to the scene. Very sad day in the life of an eleven year old.

So much of my life has been tied to birds especially to the pigeon.

Henry and Henrietta are the only names in my breeder loft. They are the pair I have the most interest in how their offspring turn out.Monty used to call the Peregines "The Henerys" so I'm hoping the name Henry and Henrietta helps me out some.Sorry, used to be a commercial fisherman and they're a superstitious as hell bunch.---------

I try not to name my birds....don't want to make any emotional attachments, whatsover...you know, here today and gone tomorrow......seems to lessen the pain of loss if you know what I mean....I think it keeps me more objective in selections also, not to have any "little darlings." LOL!
YITS,

Ivan, I havent named alot of mine, they often times dont stay long enough. But some of them I have named.I name after where they came from; Dirk, Jay, Petebird, I called one homegrown once and another Bibby b/c of its marking.

Just as a note Jay Starley has names for most all his good ones; Doc, Brent, JayLeroy, Wow, 8 for 8, Tame hen, nontort, screamer, MVP (most valuable pigeon), scragley and on and on. Some of the names he gave them, most were named by other people.

Besides endearing them to us it helps when were talking withour freinds, especially when have a loft full of red and blue selfs. Instead of saying "you know the check cock that nests in middle box" or "the hen what hit it so good last weekend". We can sound at least a lil bit coherent when talkin bout this little feathered fellers.

LMAO @ tony....
a man of my kind....I had to re-read that 3 times, and laughed every time!!..Nice names..
Luis, we may well share the same birds, if you go thru what I have just to keep enough flying..The only problem I ever have is them landing on the house which is 110' from the loft..I run over, throw a nerf football at them, they fly away, I go back to the loft, and as soon as I get there, another lands on the house..after a few trips of back and forth, that is when the damn things get named..LOL..They only land there 2 or 3 times, then the paintball gun comes into play..works wonders!!..Jerry
