Heres pictures of my kit boxes. They are 3x3x4, hold 28 birds per box. I designed these boxes with the dreaded lock down in mind. They extend another 3 feet out, this extra 3 feet is wire on all 4 sides. Makes it easy to train and settle youngsters. From October to April the lock down birds can see their surrounding, get a little exercise and sun, take a bath and you can enjoy them also. They trap in from the top of the wire box. The only time that its extended out is during the lock down or when I'm settling youngster, the other time its kept dark with the wood front.

Hi Art,
Very nicely done. Looks very functional and clean. Looks like you made good use of a small area. I appreciate that as I to have a small back yard as well. You must live in california send some of the sunshine to the North West.

Luis-
It does work as good as it looks. I built them 3 years ago and I havent had any problems.

Nick-
I live in Orange County. Where are you from?

Ivan-
Thanks for the compliments. The fiberglass roofing allows plenty of sunlight which kicks the birds in high gear for breeding. Ivan are you sure you want me to send some sunshine to the North West? The last time I was in your area for the NBRC convention you guys had record heat temperatures haha by the way you did an awesome job

What a great idea to have kit boxes with pop-outs! I love it! I assume the perches are mounted on the back wall? Did you shape the wire part yourself? Are the pop-outs supported underneath when extended? Maybe just secured somewhere on the wood frame. Is your trap a roof jack of some sort? I'm practically making out a parts list already! Thanks for making my day. Great pix. Janene

Art,

I currently live in Arkansas, but I lived in Tustin, CA for 10 years a long time ago (15 years ago or so). I also lived in Santa Ana for a couple. Your set up looks a little newer than that, but it still looks darn familiar.

We might have meet one brief day, maybe....I don't know.

Nicksiders, Where did you live in Tustin? I lived in Tustin behind the police station from 91' to 94'. I flew birds at that location during those years.
