My friend, from the looks of it, it looks like you are propping the doors close with pieces of wood stretched from the doors to the ground. That is a bad idea!! A smart cat or a coon will have their way in the kitboxs in no time and you will be sorry that you didn’t spend the extra effort to secure them. Those varmints will only do the damage at night when you are sleeping and the birds can’t fly for safety and you will end up with a massacre and blood bath. Those birds are looking at you for security and care!! Don’t be foolish and be kind to them. Otherwise, it is pretty nice setup…don’t forget to paint them from the outside to preserve your investment in time and materials.

Hey,
Nice job on the kitboxes...Those look like they will work great...As Jay stated, you may want to do something different as far as door security goes..A cheap option is to nail a nail or screw a screw next to the side that opens and fasten a wire onto the nail or screw and onto a nail or screw on the door and wrap the wire around it to secure it..That is a cheap and secure way to keep the doors closed....Other than that, great job!..Jerry

Hey looks good parlor, but you should use chicken wire on the bottom so the poops can drop through and like Jay said use something else to hold the door in so the preditors can't get in, it looks good though

Jay don't worry the ones with the wood are empty for now so I don't really need a nail in to hold it in place, the one with the cage on it has a nail to hold the door in place I can't wait to start filling it up with the pensom family I got from Dave, and chor it is chicken a chicken wire floor, plus I put the wood there so it can hold the wire in place mean while it'll be good as a toilet so I can clean it, oh yea I used up most of my hours on the net this month so I am trying to conserve them, I won't be on that often anymore

Greetings PF916,

Star is right, I just lost 9 birds to coons at night and was able to break into my kitbox. :( I had to make some changes but again I say there is NO WAY they can get in again.

I also keeps some traps around just in case they want to come around again.
