It says on the bottle to dose on an empty crop. So I was wondering, how long should I wait after worming before I start feeding again? Thanks...

I recently dosed mine in the morning on an empty crop (I had last fed them the morning the day before) and fed them late afternoon that same day they were dosed.

De-worming! Dosing them with meds to get rid of round worms, pin worms, hook worms, ect, Not sure of all the worms they get but you get the idea! Tony has a good selection of de-worming meds and can fix you up! Should be done periodically!

Unless you have complete sterile facilities, all birds are succeptible (sp) to getting worms. Parasites thrive in unclean situations, such as poop, damp areas, ect. One bird affected can spread it to the others if untreated. Best to dose them a couple times a year just to be safe.

Worms can cause several problems, weight loss, lack of energy, break down of the immune system that can cause to all kinds of problems.

I periodically de-worm all my animals, just to be on the safe side.

If you de-worm, you should use a pro-biotic to restore the stomach bacteria. If you use antibiotics for any reason, you should also use pro-biotics. I'm not comfortable explaining detailed reasons, I hope someone jumps in and saves me! LOL Tony sells all these products and can give you all the right info for usage. Contact him, hes a nice guy! You can also search the info on the RPDC at the top of the page and research the subjects further.

You use pro-biotic because after you medicate or de-worm, allot of the good bacteria gets eliminated with the bad. So pro-biotic rebuild the good bacteria in the gut to fight any illness caused by bad bacteria.

I don't use pro-biotic after medication. Rather, I use plain yogurt. Just a spoon full mixed in their drinking water does the same thing as pro-biotic and allot cheaper. Besides, I like eating yogurt myself. Mix some salt with the yogurt and add some olive oil and dip your bread. If nobody around you, some onion with it is supper.

Guys,
Probiotics restore the normal bacteria that occupy the gut lining of the intestines of living creatures, including humans. They actually manufacture vitamins and things that the host organism uses to sustain life (Vitamin K, a blood clotting factor in humans). Disease organisms are "opportunistic" which means they can only thrive in the absence of adequate numbers of the good bugs...so they have a place to take hold and grow, so to speak.
The problem with yogurt cultures is that they only contain acidophillus...a bacteria, not found in very large numbers in pigeon gut, (and only in small amounts in humans.) Commercially available pro-biotics, for humans or for animals, are cultures of the actual bacteria known to inhabit the gut lining and intestines of that particular species they are intended for. So you get much better bang for the buck...and much better protection, by using the preparations that have the largest varieties and numbers of bacteria you can get...which of course raises the price! Hope this helps.
YITS,
Cliff

I use acidophilus tablets after treatment dissolved in the water. Drop a few drops on the feed and mix in with a litle olive oil, work wonders.
