Hey there everyone, A pair of my birds decided to nest on the floor of the loft, I saw the built nest with two eggs in it. I noticed the following day that they had picked up the nest, eggs and all, and moved it to a spot about two meters away, is that unusual? I kept an eye on the eggs and as one hatched i noticed that one had gone missing. A day or two later I found this egg, cracked open with a near full term chick inside, out in the flight. Would this chick have been dead in the shell and the parents removed it from the nest or whats going on??? Regards ---------- irishflyer

The egg may have gotten cracked while in the nest, and then when it started rotting they took it away. I've had birds toss out bad eggs. I think they can smell that they are rotten. I've never figured out how they move a whole egg out and away from the nest. A mystery to me still. spud

Ok everyone, cheers for the help, I'd rather it was a leprechaun than rats anyway. Happy Easter. ---------- irishflyer
