I hope I am not out of line, but I think this thread puts me in a tough spot to have to explain the following:
Creating, developing and maintaining a pigeon website is as hard as any business you could undertake. I have spent many countless hours late into the night working on this site. I have spent thousands of dollars on website programmers attempting to get the right look and feel.
I have shot myself in the foot on more than one occassion learning the ropes of ecommerce and online communities. These lessons have been expensive and with personal costs.
In order to build this business (RPDC and Ruby Rollers) both my wife and I had to resign our well-paying careers take a severe paycut and take a calculated risk by selling our home in California and moving to Missouri to pursue making this site all it could be.
We still only make about half of what we earned in California. We make our living now by selling pigeon supplies, Ruby Rollers and from time to time some Fireball rollers.
We are paying our dues everyday and tomorrows income is not gauranteed by any stretch. Every link, page, article and promotion serves a purpose and is not put up just to have something to click on. :-)
This site has spawned some imitators, some fairly succesful and some not so, but they all have managed to siphon away traffic, some permanently.
Those 117 pages (2,340 threads) and other features did not happen overnight. I appreciate all the effort by everyone that contributed to those threads, made purchases of Ruby Rollers, pigeon products and who visit this site.
I consider this site and name to be a valuable piece of Internet real estate that has thousands of hours and thousands of dollars invested in it.
Sending traffic away to those (not everyone, but who would say so? lol) that would have no gumption of putting me out of business ( I would expect no less) if it meant a successful website for themselves, is not something that comes naturally for me.
I would like to think that the policy and rules of the site have helped contribute to make it what it is. Rather than rules that are restrictive, they actually allow the site to continue to grow and develop without accidently undermining it.
So again, I feel honored to say THANK YOU to all who have and continue to purchase from this site, post and offer articles and ideas. Without EACH ONE OF YOU, this site does not exist!!! --------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria

Did I miss something? Ken was just trying to get ideas for his own "personal" website. I don't think there was any harm there. We appreciate what you do Tony, and many of us are aware of your struggles. I just think he was reaching out for help. Pick the battles. You got this roller kid on here, the russian, that is probably that Elvi dude. He will rip anything he can off this site to make money. Those are the guys we need to look out for. Ken is a good guy.

Milo, Yeah, you missed the point. Ken may be an innocent asking for help, but if Tony allows the innocent, then the not so innocent would be next. And how do you say "yes" to one without and "no" to the next guy who would want to siphon off Tony's base and his business. Gregg.

Maybe he could post his email address and people could send him their website addresses that way. No harm, no foul! I wished we all had a personal website, I like looking at other peoples git-ups! I don't think Hardtime was meaning no comp. but I understand "T" guarding his territory! HardTime, go to World Cup Fly and click on roller links!

Hey Tony et al...
For what it's worth. I "technically" have my own forum and website, yet I still participate on this one. I've just learned to read more than spitting at the computer screen :-) So you don't see me as much.
I don't believe for one second that posting a link for a visitor to go elsewhere is damaging. In fact, I'm more likely to go back to the store that didn't have my product, yet referred me elsewhere to find what I was after, than I am if he/she tried to tell/sell me something I didn't need, or had no use for.
It's a Catch 22. This is a great site, with great people. At times thought, I think it's important to stear, not drive, people in the direction they need to be driven. It may not always be to support, participate, or purchase off a certain site or person.
Here it is...Sometimes, people are just looking for help and direction. And if they haven't already found what they need here...or anywhere else...I say we offer up what they need.
My two cents..
Hummbly, Eric

Hey hardtime, it is no problem. I do have the club page and that has websites for clubs on it. It is not up at the moment as I am organizing pages and stuff.
Hi Eric, I often refer people to other places by email or over the phone. I give out LOTSA info behind the scenes, just no posting.
The profile is a good place to put personal info and site information. I know its a balancing act. I think its just best that way for now. I am really not trying to be an SOB. Sorry if it comes across that way. ---------- FLY ON! Tony Chavarria
