Tou, If your going to prevent the bird from flying because you are trying to settle the bird don't tape both wings the same. Another wards tape one wing with three flights and the other with 4 flights this will keep it from being balanced. Tape it close to the shaft of the feather and use masking tape not duct tape. You will ruing the barbs of the feather when taking it off if you use duct tape. Also keep in mind you will have to babysit the bird the whole time as the bird or birds will be easy prey for a cat or a BOP! In short the last three primary flights. Good luck. You also may want to keep the feed can at a minimum amount of feed just to keep them under control at the same time. Ivan

I do this often for reflown birds that haven't been flown here or older young birds that haven't been flown yet. Get the cheapest MASKING tape you can, not duct tape. Don't use the good 3M stuff, but if that is all you have, stick the tape to your shirt a few times so that it picks up some lint before you use it on the birds. Pinch the last four or five flights together and make two loops around the base of the flights to hold them together. Leave a little taped over flap so that it is easier to pull off later. When you decide you want to take it off, just give the birds a bath first, then take the tape off a little while after they have dried.
