Last year I dusted my birds with seven dust and kept them to a min, butI have a lot more birds this year and dusting them one at a time takes forever! Whats some better ways of keeping them off the birds? Inexspensive and safe! I keep my pen pretty clean and I sprinkle seven dust around the nest boxes but when I dust my birds, i get more on me than them!

A quick way that I dust my birds is to get some panty hose fromthe wife...and cut them just long enough so that you can fill the pantyhose with the Permectin powder....put enough powder in until you have a little less then a tennis ball size of panty hose powder. I then roll the ball in my hand until the powder starts to leach through the pantyhose. I just grab the bird and kind of pat the bird with the pantyhose ball of permectin and that is that..you do not have to cover the bird with powder...I just pat the breast, back, wings and tail...it takes about 10sec per bird. Try it and see how you like it.....I also put panty hose fill with the powder and let them hang in my kit boxs by a string...the brids fly around in the kit box and bump the powder ball...and that helps keep the mites down too...

Mites rarely stay on the pigeon. They lurk in the cracks of the perches and nests, then come out at night to suck blood from their hosts. Perhaps your referring to pigeon lice? Mites are harder to eliminate than lice. Mites are round and are so small there hard to see. Lice are long and narrow and lodge in the vanes of the tail and flight feathers and on the front of the brest of the pigeon.

Jim i do something similar i soak a beer mat in creosote and place it under the nest bowls i had a bad time with mite last year due to the hot weather they can soon kill a newborn if untreated. I could only get creosote substitute and i don't think that stuff works i believe original creosote is the best i have just acquired a gallon of the original stuff from a friend who has had it stashed for years in his shed. The creosote was banned due to causing cancer or cancerous i believe. Never thought of diesel but ill keep that in mind thanks for the tip another idea Ive stolen from you Jim Lol. Also i use ivomec pour on. Regards W@yne uk ---------- Patience Perseverance Perfection =====================================
