Scott, Again a very balanced bird. Hey guys this cock posted below is a very good representation of what a Birmingham Roller should have in type. Good station and sweeping back line and strong constitution. Very nice scotty. Ivan

Scott, You would never believe how close we are in agreement on type and a whole lot of everything. Just that for some reason you like to argue???????? Couple of good looking birds. Ivan said it all. Gregg.

Nice looking birds, Scott. Especially the one on the bottom photo. My XXX 170'98 cock bird resembles him in every way.

Thanks guys , as for the two cocks ,these are two different line's. In the air the one on top was a better bird, and a bird that needs to be bred to a stronger type hen , his aunt fit that bill. I don't think he is the type of bird that you want to hone around as I think there is a good possibility that the line would deterorate , but I think that he still has his uses within the line.
The cock on the bottom is something definatly worth trying to to see if he is worth working around as is and looks mentaly strong.
Nick , yes these birds go back to KGB , but I had to search out a few key birds to get the direction that I am now headed , and let me tell you I filtered a lot of birds through here to find them. The same holds true with "any" family or line , I see alot of birds out there that are a few or more generations away from first rate families that don't represent those families at all ,including this one.

Hey Scott, Both are fine looking birds. You have taken the birds, selected and refined them to your liking and flying.. No doubt you have made your own family out of them. I started mine from 5 birds I picked from over a 100. I know that you have done the same. Funny how so many think you just get a couple birds from a family and your set. No two people stock and select the same. I have seen birds off my stock in others lofts, that don't even resemble the family!! I know one thing, when I need a bird to add back into my own, your loft has a HUGE bulls eye painted in the middle of it!! LOL After seeing the type you have selected, I think I'm going to cull a little harder. I'm getting left behind! KGB

That is a hard one George , as for the "good" they are stable and the "good" one's will stay good year after year , with the "good" one's the frequency is good, the "good" one's can roll as hard as I have seen anywhere and the "good" one's can handle depth very well and with qaulity , due to stability the kitting is very good and they can work and break as a team. Notice I said the "good" one's ! As for the bad , I have to watch web toe , I have to watch for poor feather , and once mature they can get strong on you if you let them, strong means fly strong. But that also goes hand in hand with thier good points , once these birds are mature you most definetly have to manage them . I have flown several types of birds and families and there is a reason these are in my loft, but they aren't for everybody thats for sure , hope this answers your question.

Scott, Does strong flying mean the same as stiff?

Not necessarily Jerry (stiff), but they can to go up on you , but not always, but likely if you aren't careful. Once strong the wing beat will get faster also and you wont get as much depth that they are capable of but qaulity tends to stay pretty sharp , and of coarse you wont get optimun work rate. Ivan hit it pretty good on how to handle such situations in another thread , once they hit that point it is best to quit flying and pound wt. back on them and get them out of fly condition. also once you do that the feed can will control them much better also, for a period. The yo-yo works well on such birds if done properly, if done improperly they just get strong on you.
