Hope you enjoy....the "Flash Over" is the name of the strain that I am developing with the Ruby and Mort birds....Flash over is a fire dept. term...here is what it means...

The temperature point at which all the contents in a room reach there ignition temperature and ignite all flammable material simultaneously....Basically the whole room goes up at one time...(not good for firefighters)...but that is what I want to birds to do..."Reach there ignition temp and spontaniously explode into concert performance"

Paul, that really turned out nice, very well done! Man you weren't kidding about the cock and hen cages were you? Everything looks really nice. Love the artwork!

You guys talked me into the open loft set-up. I'll be adding a aviary also so the birds can get outside, get some fresh air and sun. I'll continue to use the individual cages as nest boxes but I'll wire the doors open and build landing boards on the front of them so the birds can access them. I plan to do it over the next couple of weeks so I'm hoping the new-found freedom won't screw the pairs up and they start abandoning eggs, etc. due to the excitement of the open loft.

Once again, great job Paul!

Darin, if you go to "open loft", you might want to try letting one pair out at a time until they learn where their nest site is. When you let all the pairs out together, keep an eye on them in case one cock proves to be a trouble maker. Good luck!
Geo.

Hey Brother FireFighter
Great job on the new loft, As a 25 year vet in the City of Los Angeles the term ''Flash Over'' really hits home with me as i've seen it many times in my career. What a great name for a strain of rollers. Email me at cardo2sYahoo.com. I'll send you a LAFD t-shirt.

Ray,

The demensions are 9'X 14'for the loft itself. The kit boxes are 3X3X3...the breeder loft is 5'X 8', the hen and cock lofts are 2'X 3' and 6-7' tall. The Dark brown door on the outside of the loft can be closed up for the weather.

As for the gnomes...my wife does not like them...and she is German..can you believe that...when we were in Germany visiting her relative...they had damn gnome cities..LOL..anyway...I bought two...one for her and one for me..LOL...

Paul, I will be referring to your pix as I re-model a 9x13 shed this spring. Thank you for letting me take advantage of your set-up ideas. Is there anything you would change if given a chance? My pulse is now at least 92bpm after viewing your fire pics. I worked for CDF for 3 years and my father retired from Redding, CA fire dept as a Bat. Cheif. He was 47 and had a heart attack. He found it difficult to "stand around" and tell others what to do. You just want to get in there and do the job yourself. Stay healthy!!!!!! Janene

Great Loft Paul. Hopefully your "flash Over" strain don't deliver a Flash over for you to put out j/k. Keep that fire truck close by...prepare for summer and stay safe.

I like the layout of this loft. I really wish I had it, with a heater. That reminds since it is 10 pm and 11 degrees, I better go get the waters, so I do not have to spend 30 minutes getting ice out of them tomorrow.
