Scott, did you find that you had alot of waste because the birds wouldn't eat the longer pellets? Do you happen to have a quick and easy idea to break them up so that they are all edible size for the birds?
I'm finding they won't eat the longer ones. I've watched them eat them and I see them shaking them as if trying to whack them against the side of the cage to break them and at times it sounds like they're successful hitting the cage bars and then they eat the piece that remains in their beak. ---------- Darin Olson Checkerboard Lofts

Get a cheap blender at wal mart or at a garage sale, bump the low speed a couple of times. I even chop the big oyster shells that they don't eat. Just dont put more than a handful or two at a time. I think my wife bought my blender for about 10 bucks. Just an idea, but it works for me!

The same way it happened to me too...I have found that the reg. pellets is more waste, because my birds tend to pick the smaller size pellets...So what i did was, change it to a good % of crunch up pellets...It look like a chicken start pellets...Try it and you'll be surprised...I found it working for me...

Darin, If you just bump the on switch a time or two and kinda shake it around, it will do a descent job, some does turn to powder and goes to waist but it wasn't being eaten anyways at the large size. I'm just using the stuff that is left over in the pan after they have picked out all the edible sz pellets, same as oyster shells. My blender has a really low speed.

Darin/guys Some pellets use more binding which gives you that hard pellet and some are hard to break up. The Nutrina should be soft with very light binder ,which means that they should be soft and crumbley.
