Well, went to work at 5 am this morning, had 21 squeaks in a kit box. Came home and looked like a war zone in the back yard. My year old lab chewed through the chicken wire and between him and the other two dogs they ate 17 of them!
I have no more dogs!!!!
Slight setback, huh!

One good thing you got rid of a worthless dog. Sorry to hear about your loss.

Val, Sorry to hear of the loss of your birds and your dog. I had the same type of problem using "chicken wire" for my wife's egg-layers. The neighbors dogs got thru the wire and ravaged the hens. Now all I use is "welded wire", it's a thicker gauge wire and the dogs aren't able to get through it. The neighborhood dogs still come around to hassle the hens but they can only circle the pen and it gives me a chance to get even. So far I have at least 8 dogs fertilizing my fruit trees.:)
Again, sorry for your loss and NO MORE CHICKEN WIRE.

Hey buddy, I feel for ya.
I have never lost birds to animals, but have lost my share to overflys, including 8 that are still flying as I type. Have the loft lit up, hoping for the best!
I just hate to see the time and effort go to waste when loosing birds. You will breed more, but that doesnt help now I know....
Glad to see ya took care of the problem tho.

Thanks guys, this hurts, I spend hrs every day with them. Three months down the drain. Man I lost it, I went all(Norman Bates) on all three of the dogs! I can't believe I let myself get so wrapped up with little guys! They were all within two weeks of each other! Damn it!

Val,
I feel for ya buddy.....hang in there! My A-kit dissappeared yesterday for a couple hours. That sinking feeling in the gut sucks!!
